Firstly thanks to all the NP who filled my inbox with useful info, I would thank you by PM but then my mailbox would be full again.

Which is a roundabout way of saying "M'lady I was made a little room for you" ;)

FC we missed you, I was even worried you had been burned to the ground a few weeks ago
Michaels, i just tried to send you a filthy pm but you are obviously getting far too many already. Clear one little space for me will you? Please?

I was thinking about explaining NP and online acquaintances in general to IRL acquaintances and then also thinking about chat roulette etc and the boredom of commuting and thought - is there an app for that?

How about a bluetooth app that would let you communicate for example what music you were listening to, what you were reading and whether you fancied a text chat (by bluetooth) with some of the random strangers in the same carriage/on the same bus. Probably more a sort of teenagers thing but I reckon there would be an advert driven busines smodel if the app did exist.

(For those who have never done hand-washing, you put the stuff/water in a bowl, chuck the clothes in, press/wiggle them about for a bit, change the water, do the same, then leave them in soak for awhile .... before eventually rinsing 2-3x in a bowl of cold/clean water.... so last items are at the soaking stage for 10 minutes).

I think you are missing the bit where you add detergent.

I think that was the 'stuff' but I think the bit about scrubbing with a brush, wringing etc, etc has been missed - plus in student days with lots of washing the bath was sometimes brought in to play.

But... if you want a text chat, it doesn't need to be somebody on the same bus, and if you want to chat to somebody on the same bus, you can just talk to them??? Or am I just getting old?

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Lot of the time you have no signal, and you might want to chat to one of your mates without the others hearing or you might want to chat to a complete stranger cos they are listening to Justin Timberlake or reading Neitsche

Does that constitute a 2 for 1? As in by doing your laundry in the bath it cleans it at the same time?

The only text I would ever send using that service would be "TURN YOUR RUDDY MUSIC DOWN".

I expect I would find that easier to understand if I was a regular user of public transport, but I'm not. I do get the "bluetooth when there's no phone signal" aspect now you've explained it to me, though.

There are apps that let you find people near you. You can also do it for yourself with bluetooth.

I've chatted with people I know on different tables in a restaurant using BBM or WhatsApp (instant messaging on smartphones).
