Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
How about a bluetooth app that would let you communicate for example what music you were listening to, what you were reading and whether you fancied a text chat (by bluetooth) with some of the random strangers in the same carriage/on the same bus.0 -
There are apps that let you find people near you. You can also do it for yourself with bluetooth.
I've chatted with people I know on different tables in a restaurant using BBM or WhatsApp (instant messaging on smartphones).
If your friends are so f**** amazing you can't bear to be without them when you're with me .... you can s0d off and sit with them.0 -

Firstly thanks to all the NP who filled my inbox with useful info, I would thank you by PM but then my mailbox would be full again.
To be honest, I didn't even spot where you wanted useful info.... but then I've no useful info to have imparted, so wouldn't have contibuted anyway.0 -
Pastures, I sent him some info about solar panels, but that was just one pm. I don't know who's been filling up the rest of his inbox.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? I think you are missing the bit where you add detergent.
First washing machine I owned (2nd hand of course). I was about 30 or so, went to work wearing my shirt and half way through the day said to the receptionist "You know, I washed this and it looks grey...." she enquired "What powder did you use?" ... Oooooooooh!!!
I was so intent on being able to use the machine (first time I'd ever used one, nobody else around, no instruction book)..... I'd completely overlooked that bit.0 -
I think that was the 'stuff' but I think the bit about scrubbing with a brush, wringing etc, etc has been missed - plus in student days with lots of washing the bath was sometimes brought in to play.
As for scrubbing with a brush .... it doesn't happen. My clothes are NEVER that grubby that I'd need a brush or to scrub! Good lord, how filthy do you lot let your clothes get before you wash them?
I will admit to having scrubbed in the past, with shirts etc that have actual collars.... but I've not worn collars for a long time.0 -

I did have a table-top pressure-washer when I lived in the caravan. Spherical plastic thing, put the water/detergent/clothes in, tighten lid, turn the handle to crank it, which built up pressure .... and cleaned clothes.
The trouble I had was that the only space big enough for it was in the bath - and the rubber suction feet never stuck, so it was awkward - but it does work well apart from that.
Something like this: http://www.dellchallenge.org/sites/default/files/imagecache/project-full-size/groups/34710/project_image.png
It took an awful lot of rinsing though...0
