NO EXCUSES....
You accept your lot ... and do your best.
I don't think there's anything really that wrong about firing off a few texts whilst you're at the dinner table, as long as it's not just one other person there with you. If the others are talking about some crap you couldn't care less about, why not occupy your time with something else. I do it in meetings anyway, get out the bb and fire off a few emails whilst others talk drivel.0 -

I don't want to hold a bag .... else you've got one hand all night and daren't put it down in case you forget it .... and bags fall off my shoulder, which is annoying .... and thus started my dislike of bags. I have been using small rucksacks for the past 5-6 years... they work a treat as you're hands free and it's not going to drop off.0

Do any other NPs drive a diesel or gas car (or other non-petrol fuel). Does it make a big difference?
I save approximately £7461.43 a year by driving a diesel (assuming 80k miles a year). This includes cheaper insurance, cheaper servicing and a manual gearbox on the petrol (mine's Auto). I also get about "3k more for a diesel at the end of it
If you do less than 15-20k a year, it's not really worth it unless it's a really big car, though!

I do have a handbag, but also see what you mean about carrying one and looking after it the whole time. I particularly noticed this when watching the Diamond Jubilee coverage. If you looked closely, whether on the barge, at the concert or at St Pauls, you could always see where her handbag was. If the Queen doesn't have somewhere to put her handbag, what hope is there for the rest of us women? Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Yep - the AA or someone did some figures suggesting that it was not worth having a diesel for lower mileages as they cost more. They then went on to say the price differential was even bigger second hand which would seem to suggest to me that actually you probably overcame the price differential via lower depreciation but somehow most car running cost comparisons seem to ignore depreciation and 'cost of capital'.CKhalvashi wrote: »I save approximately £7461.43 a year by driving a diesel (assuming 80k miles a year). I've got a big car........a ittle bitty one would not be suitable for ferrying drum kits plus 3 teenagers and a wheelchair around.
So if the depreciation is not too bad, does that mean my car might actually be worth more than 50p then? Cost me £461 5 years ago and is a perfect full drum kit plus extras carrier.
Talking of drum kits, the song the boys (as in the band, not boys as in my children), has now been put on Facebook via Soundcloud. Must admit, it is their best version of it.
Edit - Just been on Facebook, ex is not happy as the boys made the decision not to send a Fathers Day card, I did try to persaude them otherwise but they were not having any of it. I then said at least write a message on his wall to say Happy Fathers day....again, they have made the decision not to.
Oh dear, think I am in trouble again...apparently, I should have forced them to.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

Saying that, OH's car (well, my car, but not suitable for work) was actually cheaper to buy in diesel form, and will certainly be cheaper to run (Jag XJ 3.0 Portfolio), although that may be due to the petrol being 5.0
We had a Lexus SC430, and got rid of that as it was impossible to afford to run (she does about 800mi/week).
Because when I buy a car, I have every intention to change it after about 2 years, I include cost of capital/depreciation. I posted one of out ex-company cars on NPT5 ('10' plate with 173,000 miles), and we still managed to get £9k back for it. Mine's a model up, and fully specced, unlike the fleet stuff, so I technically lose 50% in 2 years (list price for mine was £37k, we paid £26k). That's £500/month!

In the current climate a lot of dad's are rightly getting in the news and saying they want to see their kids more often so sympathy is with dads at the moment. I have no doubt your ex is able to ride the crest of that at times and it's all "your fault". However there are plenty of downbeat dads out there and children aren't stupid. If their parent - dad or mum - lets them down time, after time, after time; then they realise and want to disengage from the relationship because they know its not worth their time or the emotional confusion. Unfortunately the tw*t you married doesn't seem to realise that. His loss. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing?
