If any car I get does not have a CD player, I put one in! Even my first car had a CD player, they were uber uber expensive at the time as they had only just come out, in fact, it was worth 3 times what the car was worth.
In my married days it was a lot easier as now ex hubby would just take it out of the outgoing car and put it in our incoming car......when I got my current car, I spoke nicely to a friend at Halfords who did it FOC for me.
Bags? I'm the same as PN....but do admit to spending a little more on my last handbag and it has lasted a good while now.
Edit - oh have a diesel car and even though my journeys are mostly local, it still works out cheaper than having a petrol car...a tenner in a petrol car would have me putting more in after 1 maybe 2 days, in the diesel, it can last me 4/5 days.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
Do any other NPs drive a diesel or gas car (or other non-petrol fuel). Does it make a big difference?
quite often i get left with a diesel for a few days at a time. Its very good on fuel use, BUT diesel is so much more dear now i question if it would make any difference financially.
Our car id unleaded and it gulps through fuel, using more than the old lr without question.0 -

If you've got an mp3 player, you can play it through the casette. I got one of these and it lasted years.
I had one of those for ages, but don't need it in my current car - it plays CDs and has an audio input socket thing for connecting an mp3 player.lostinrates wrote: »Incidentally, how many peoples families do know about your online lives? I've mentioned in passing to various friends and family that I spend time on forums, but no detail. The most positive response I had was from my aunt, when I explained that it meant I could have conversations and friendships with othe adults even when childcare considerations meant that I had to be at home with no grown-up company. She said it sounded like an excellent idea. Who says the elderly aren't open to new things? This particular aunt will be celebrating her 90th birthday this summer.
DS and DD know that I belong on here. They know there's a possibility that we could meet some people "that lir and I talk to online but haven't met yet". They do not know that lir and I originally met online, and that the first time I took them to see her was the first time she and I had ever seen each other.lostinrates wrote: »Too much if its to use once as a novety item. Reasonable in the extreme if it becomes your main bag for a few years imo.
My main bag atm was in a sale, cost 25 half price, beore we bought here. Its going strong, so i am more than happy.
My bags tend to cost about £70. I find getting anything other than leather is a false economy because it wears out too quickly. But then I only have two - a bigger one for every day that's getting increasingly tatty, and a slightly smaller one for best. £70 isn't bad for something that will be used daily for about 5 years before it falls to pieces and I get a new one. It probably works out at about 3 or 4p per use.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
the last bag was about £45 and leather but it's got a few stains and the clasp thing has fallen off. It was bought Dec 2010 so has only lasted 18 months (which annoys me).
New bag is also leather and should last a bit more. Should be ok then. I only have one bag for everything. I am not organised enough to have multiples.
I drive a petrol car but i get a stupid good mileage as I do a short town trip, loads on a fast A road and then a bit at the end. And I have a P reg 1.0l

My average journey is under 2 miles, 1.6 engine and I get about 30mpg unleaded.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. If you're doing short journeys, diesels are a bit of a no no, on cars manufactured from 2005 onwards, as they have to have a diesel particulate filter fitted.

The new batch of small Petrol cars have exceptional fuel consumption. The Fiat 500 Air, and the new Peugeot 208 can do over 60 mpg.0 -

DH doesn't get it and thinks I've joined some kind of weird mushroom worshipping online cult. Which he thinks is even stranger given neither he or I like mushrooms. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? I have a diesel, bought mainly due to outdated ideas about diesel being cheaper per mile - and with no knowledge that they were more expensive to maintain and that there were "rules" about driving diesels (e.g. taking mileage etc into consideration).
As for handbags.... if I can get away with shoving my fags and £5 into a pocket of my jeans/plastic mac instead of taking a bag out .... I'll do it.
If I ever meet any of you guys it'll be SO easy for me to relax because you know what a peasant I am ... so there'll be no stressing for me over what to wear/do will there.
I'll be the one sitting on the kerb outside having a cig and wearing a plastic macmeanwhile, you'll all be discussing politics and the subtleties of a particular wine, with your pinkies out
