    i).

Walkers may well be misleading consumer if they are 'perpetuating the belief' the multipakcs are the same as the singles but this is probably being done by omission rather than action ction. if all bags were once 35g and the multi packs have gone down to 25g there is not legal requirement for walkers to tell everyone - so there may well be millions of people assuming the bags were as they were 10 years ago.

Walkers have always sold mulit-pack crisps at a different weight to single packs, OP concedes this point above. They have never been the same size, therefore there is nothing misleading.

It's an obvious difference in size that would be noticed the very first time you bought a multi-pack, so again there is nothing misleading.

It's clearly shown on the outer wrapper that the multi-pack contains 6 x 25g, once again nothing misleading.

I think OP is delusional if he thinks Joe Public cannot work out for himself that the bags are different sizes and I really can't see why he believes that bags being smaller, and clearly labelled as such, is a swindle.

Infact, at a primary school my children attended they specified that children were only allowed a packet of crisps from a multi-pack because of the smaller, less unhealthy, portion size. This would indicate that the majority of people are only too well aware that multi-pack crisps are smaller than single packs.

Consumers are being mislead for sure - consumers buy Crisps in 'bags', Walkers are perpetuating that belief, marketing it, selling it, and exploiting it - it suit their scam to do so - and there is no other possible reason for packing short-weight 'bags' of crisps

People dont buy crisps by the weight

Weights & measures should perform a survey on "joe average" leaving the supermarket after buying walkers multi-pack

All customers will know how many 'bags' of crisps they have just been sold

For each customer that knows what 'weight' of crisps they have just been sold (short) I'll buy then a car, a house and a boat

Walkers know this for a fact (dont need no survey) and happy to steal for as many punters as weights & measures will let them

I think this is a case of "speak for yourself".

A "bag" is not a unit of measurement. It is a container. You don't expect all boxes or tins or tubs or bottles to contain the same amount do you?

I fail to see how it is a scam considering it is still good value for money.

Using your logic, I would look at 2 boxes of cereal and buy the cheapest one simply because its a "box" of cereal - regardless of the weight contained in said boxes and regardless of the price per 100g/kg/whatever.

Shops and manufacturers probably have their own teams of people devising ways of fooling shoppers with their deals which are just inside the law.

I doubt this will ever change as there are far too many people who just accept it.

If it was up to me I wouldn't allow manufacturers to change the size or quality of a product without making it obvious. There are many cleaning products on the market that start out good to get people to buy them and once that get a bit of a reputation they weaken the ingredients. It does make me angry but I doubt anything will ever be done.

The point is weights and measures law is very clear.

It says certain products must have the weight indicated on them and these weights must be accurate. It also specifics what units the measurements must be shown in and the fact that they must be metric with imeprial optional..

I'm sure you're right about 'weights & measures law'

but I *know* the difference between right & wrong and Walkers selling under filled "bags" of crisps (they maybe labelling weight but are careful not to sell this under measurement) is wrong

must be some law around that prevents this deceitful behaviour - prolly the same law that made Tesco change all their cereal packaging because they made it too similar to brand leaders - and if the law can protect a buyer from buying a box of cereal that cleary labelled "TESCO" from 'confusing' this with a brand leader then it will protect consumers from being deliberative short measured

I think the law will catch up with Walkers swindle soon in the end (and it could be the embarrassment of time that is stalling it) and the perfect punishment will be for them to be forced to pack regular "bags" in multi-packs without being able to advertise this fact anymore than they currently advertise short-measure bags (indication of weight - 'somewhere')

It will, take Joe Public about another 20 years to realise they're are getting they're crisps back and consequently cost Walkers the £millions they have swindled of Joe already

...A "bag" is not a unit of measurement. ...

but "BAGS" are what Walkers are Selling & promoting in multi-packs- they are not "selling", marketing or advertising WEIGHT

Which is my point - and hence the crux of the great walkers swindle
    ...
    I fail to see ...

I vote Zandoni for president!!!!!! :T:T:T

When people are buying 'at face value', particularly in a busy supermarket environment which is worth £billions, then it should be 'transparent' what is being offered and it should come under more scrutiny by the law

I quite sure that it wont be long before we get home, open up "a can" of beans (of the 8 pack we bought) and find it only 1/2 full before we notice the label "150 grams" at the bottom - by the time we have all been scammed once or twice, "Mr Walkers Baked Beans" will have an helicopter and living on his own island in the Caribbean and most of these posters will defend this right to the bitter end "well he did put the weight on it"

If it was a house (worth £1/2 million) they would be in uproar - but because it's "a bag" of crisps (worth £billions) they dont see the problem

You do - and I can't help that

So in a variety pack of cereal......are they scamming you because the boxes are smaller given they contain 8 boxes?

You're still missing the point completely. A bar of chocolate is not a set size......you get varying weights. A bag is not a set size etc. As i said above, a bag is the type of container the product comes in.

Walker sensations come in huge bags........why not complain the the single bags of crisps are ripping you off because the sensation bags are so huge, the single bags of normal crisps are underweight in comparison?

Oooooh thats right, because a bag is not a unit of measurement!
