The great Walkers swindle

Walkers multi-packs "bags" of crisps (28 grms ish) are smaller than Walkers regular 'bags' of crisps (35 grms ish)
I know they have done this for a long time but thats never made it right and I've posted about this for as long as i can remember
There is only one reason they do this - It's to deceive the consumer into thinking they get more crisps than they are actually getting
Printing the pack size/weight on the packet is irrelevant - because the quantity that they actually & actively "selling" is "bags" of crisps and the consumer buy crisps in "bags"
If they wanted to be transparently honest (which the law should ensure) they could either pack regular size bags of crisps (the "bag" most people think they are buying) or dont promote/sell how many "bags" are in the pack but just promote/sell the 'weight'
I cant understand why weights & measures have allowed this to go on because you must have noticed other companies have now joined in on the weights & measures scam (multi-pack Mars bars are smaller than regular ones) etc etc etc
If Walkers even attempted to defend this I would make them start packing regular size bags (would counter anything they can say)

When will the "Edit" and "Quote" button get fixed on the mobile web interface?

I bought a pack of multi-pack of Quavers for 99p and the packets were measerly. No where on the pack did it state how many grams were in each bag, or even the total weight. I thought the weight had to be displayed somewhere. There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. Multi packs of most things are smaller. Even bottles of juice or cider for example.
Walkers are not doing anything unusual.
People can still choose whether to buy multi packs of slightly smaller amounts or just several individual packs of slightly larger amounts.
You are being offered a product. There are many alternatives so either accept the offering or don't. I would be more annoyed if choice was removed so you could only buy the smaller multi packs, that would be wrong and the company would be more worthy of scorn then imo.Herman - MP for all!0 -

I agree with you but I feel the consumer should be able to make an informed choice, i.e. clearly know what size packs they are getting within the multi-pack. If single packs have to have weights on, why not the outer wrapper of a multi-pack?There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. To be fair though, the other side of not having weight written on the outside is that is that the companies are not actually claiming the packs to be anything they are not.
It's the consumer who assumes the goods in the multi packs will be the same size as individual packs.Herman - MP for all!0 -
I prefer the multi-packs BECAUSE they are smaller. You get to each a whole pack without feeling quite so guilty.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

It's 7 grams, it's clearly marked, the multi-packs are cheaper and this has been the case for decades. If you think that's an example of 'deception', your perspective is skewed."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0

I've often felt guilt was such a [STRIKE]hold back[/STRIKE] wasted emotion. :whistle::DHerman - MP for all!0 -

Is it?
The OP says the outer packaging doesn't have the weights on.0 -

Actually I fully agree, and I suspect Trading Standards will too - a multipack should state the weight/volume of the total contents on the outside. Can you photograph the pack that did not contain and description of the contents? It sounds very unusual.0 -
I suspect that if any action was upheld against walkers, the regular size bags would change to 28g rather than the multipack bags getting bigger.0
