    Is it?

The OP says the outer packaging doesn't have the weights on.

Good thing I actually bought crisps for the first time in 3 years lol. I just went and checked and on my walkers multipack it clearly says "22x25g"

    Not really misleading imo.

Just also checked tesco's website, most "normal" flavours (ie cheese n onion, smoky bacon, ready salted etc) are 34.5 g (just for a comparison). So looking at a difference of 9.5g per bag......it is quite a bit when you think about it!

22x25g = 16 "normal" bags. Which @ 49p a bag, works out at £7.84....so the £4.37 multipack is certainly still a "saving" when looking at it that way.

I suspect that if any action was upheld against walkers, the regular size bags would change to 28g rather than the multipack bags getting bigger.

AFAIK the regular bags are already getting smaller. A packet of Prawn Cocktail was 32.5g instead of 34g :(

I agree with you but I feel the consumer should be able to make an informed choice, i.e. clearly know what size packs they are getting within the multi-pack. If single packs have to have weights on, why not the outer wrapper of a multi-pack?

    Exactly!!!!!!

Walkers (and the rest) are short-weighing multi-packs for one reason only - and it's nothing to do with them considering you or your health

Weights & measures should be transparently clear - especially thing sold in high volume in supermarket conditions where consumers buy things 'at face value'

This is not a car or TV where consumer is expected to 'investigate/research' what they are buying

and as i said - putting the weight on (in small writing) is not the answer - Walkers crisps are being sold/bought by 'the bag' - in case of 'under-sized' multi-packs Walkers are still actively selling & promoting "bags" of crisps - not weights of crisps

Packs do not say "500 grams for the price of 300 grams" (thats too transparent)

they say "12 bags for the price of 10"

I have to say I have never noticed! Havent bought any multi packs of crisps for 15 years though.

That all said though, is it a swindle? It is on the front of the packet, though smaller text I accept

Secondly it is the retailers that actually set the pricing and not Walkers

Of course it's to do with their profits. But if their costs go up, they have the choice of increasing the price or decreasing the quantity and keeping the price the same. They're under no obligation to alert you to the change in size.

I'd be amazed if the outside bag didn't include the weights of the individual bags, and I'd expect it must do, so complain if it isn't.

There's no definition of 'bag' and it would be entirely unreasonable to lock a company into the same sized portions for ever more.

And it's hardly 'research' is it? You only need a pair of eyes.

They are not short-weighing, they are a a different size product sold at a price which reflects the smaller size bag. 'Bag' is not a unit of weight.

How much clearer do you want it to be than putting 6 x 25g on the front of the outer bag??

This is like the pack I mentioned. I bought them from Home Bargains and I did search the pack for the weights as I was annoyed about them being really small packs with nothing to say they were. From what I remember, the weights weren't even on the actual packets inside either as I had no idea what the weight was to compare offers etc.

I always thought the smaller packs were the regular size and then they brought out those grab bags which are much bigger ?

Each bag weighs 16.5 grams. I worked that out from the info. on the bag.
