Not sure what you think "a swindle" is - but we are obviously talking at cross-purposes

This has to get the prize for post of the week!
Walkers selling multi pack size crisps at a LOWER price per 100g than single packs being compared to stealing Mars Bars.
Your logic defies me.
Surely selling the single packs at 44p per 100g more than multi packs is the big swindle, no?Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

I KNOW what a swindle is, it's you who seems to be confused. There is no swindle in selling a product CHEAPER (see that's the bit you really fail to grasp isn't it) just because it's in a smaller pack size. You are now on Ignore

Ah, that old chestnut, if someone doesn't agree with your twisted logic, stick them on ignore. Classic.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
Buy McCoys they keep the multipacks at 32g. Problem solved!
If you don't like a company's practices buy from another and if enough folk agree the will either go bust or accomodate the consumer.0 -

Blimey, I hope they don't accomodate Jethro, I don't want them to start charging 44p more per 100g for their multi pack crisps!Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
Walkers multi-packs "bags" of crisps (28 grms ish) are smaller than Walkers regular 'bags' of crisps (35 grms ish)
I know they have done this for a long time but thats never made it right and I've posted about this for as long as i can remember
There is only one reason they do this - It's to deceive the consumer into thinking they get more crisps than they are actually getting
Printing the pack size/weight on the packet is irrelevant - because the quantity that they actually & actively "selling" is "bags" of crisps and the consumer buy crisps in "bags"
If they wanted to be transparently honest (which the law should ensure) they could either pack regular size bags of crisps (the "bag" most people think they are buying) or dont promote/sell how many "bags" are in the pack but just promote/sell the 'weight'
I cant understand why weights & measures have allowed this to go on because you must have noticed other companies have now joined in on the weights & measures scam (multi-pack Mars bars are smaller than regular ones) etc etc etc
If Walkers even attempted to defend this I would make them start packing regular size bags (would counter anything they can say)
Yawwnnn! I've know this for years! Must be why they put a message on the bars/bags which says must not be sold separately.
Although we have a snack box at work with crisps and chocolate in, and they do sneak multipack bars of chocolate in there. But I deliberately don't buy those. You can tell if they don't have any bar codes on.Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £26,322.670 -
As ever there is no swindle and no scam...or rip off. And as ever the OP can't back up their problem within the real world.0

Weights and Measures laws require the indicated weight to be accurate - if they are on the multi packs and on the single bags then they are not breaching the laws.
Whether consuemrs are being misled because of the 2 sized bags, that would come under different legislation. I would hazard probably not but it depends on how its marketed.
Consumers are being mislead for sure - consumers buy Crisps in 'bags', Walkers are perpetuating that belief, marketing it, selling it, and exploiting it - it suit their scam to do so - and there is no other possible reason for packing short-weight 'bags' of crisps
People dont buy crisps by the weight
Weights & measures should perform a survey on "joe average" leaving the supermarket after buying walkers multi-pack
All customers will know how many 'bags' of crisps they have just been sold
For each customer that knows what 'weight' of crisps they have just been sold (short) I'll buy then a car, a house and a boat
Walkers know this for a fact (dont need no survey) and happy to steal for as many punters as weights & measures will let themWhen will the "Edit" and "Quote" button get fixed on the mobile web interface?0 -
The point is weights and measures law is very clear.
It says certain products must have the weight indicated on them and these weights must be accurate. It also specifics what units the measurements must be shown in and the fact that they must be metric with imeprial optional.
So if Walkers are displaying the correct weights on the packets then there is no breach of weights and emasures law. They are not short selling if the pack says 25g and 25g is inside of it.
Someone ahs mentioned crisps are exempt from weights and measures law so it might be a moot point.
Your issue, that they are selling bigger apckets of crisps and singles and MAY be misleading consumers into thinking they are getting the same sized packets in multipacks is totally seperate and comes under misleading commercial practices, not weights and measures.
i do not doubt that many people buy multi packs thinking they get the same amoutn of crisps as singles, but its not a weights and measures isue. legally speaking weights and measures only applies when you buy something 'by the weight' - as you rightly poitn out you dont by bags by the weight, so it is irrelevant. so the only thing that is left if the weight indication (if needed).
Walkers may well be misleading consumer if they are 'perpetuating the belief' the multipakcs are the same as the singles but this is probably being done by omission rather than action ction. if all bags were once 35g and the multi packs have gone down to 25g there is not legal requirement for walkers to tell everyone - so there may well be millions of people assuming the bags were as they were 10 years ago.
no legal action will ever be taken on this unless walkers could be found activley misdescribing the multipacks.0
