How many babies in this belly?

I have no problem with responsible breeding.
I still think my point was a valid one.
(not all dog bites are by rescue dogs)0 -
If you post that you have bred a dog on purpose on this forum you will get a whole horde of people saying your a cruel owner, un-responsible etc etc.
I think if you breed responsibly, it's not a big problem. Puppies are available left right and centre so I doubt you enjoying breeding your gorgeous dog will have such a bloody awful effect. Just try and warn people about how large they will get and that they will new strong training to ensure they behave well and become loved family pets.
Yes, it's good to get a rescue dog, but I think we all like particular breeds. The chance to get a puppy Rhodesian ridgeback in a kennels is almost impossible. Maybe 9/10 months down the line when they have been with irresponsible owners who don't know how to handle there size, but then you miss the puppy part of the dog. I brought my dog from a lady who had bred her chihuahua and jack Russell and paid £250 for my pup. He was gorgeous and still is. She made a lot of effort, supplying me with a puppy pack and pet plan insurance for the first 60 days along with asking me to keep her updated, which I have. I had great joy seeing other pictures she had of his brothers and sisters growing up too!
Don't even honour the moaners with a response. If you had bred accidently they would still be !!!!!h0les.
Don't worry! Good luck in finding good homes for the pups and a good birth for mum. Post some pics up when there born too! ^.^ xxxxx0 -
I think the point people are trying to make is that this person has bred her dog without already having homes lined up for the pups so will be relying on people responding to her advertising them for sale.
Most responsible breeders have waiting lists for their pups and homes are guaranteed for them all long before the b!itch is even pregnant! The downside to advertising pups after they are born is that it gives rise to opportunist owners who might answer and advert on a whim without doing much research into the breed or thinking long and hard about whether a puppy is even suitable for their lifestyle, hence why so many young dogs end up in rescue homes when the novelty has worn off.
Having said that, RR's certainly aren't frequently found in rescue centres. I wish the OP all the best with her litter, and fingers crossed they all end up in fantastic knowledgeable homes.“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -

Agreed, although all of us have no idea of OP's personal situation and they could have enough space to keep some of the puppies if they were unable to go to another home. I know if I ha a dog that was having 10+ puppies I would either ensure they had good homes or keep them. With the amount of ash she will actually make from these pups, she will easily be able to afford to vaccinate them and microchip as necessary. It's all well and good to be opinionated, hey I am aswell! But it's seems un-necessary bullying is the way this forum is going.0 -
People being concerned about animal welfare is not bullying.
Some of us will stand up for what we believe in and actually try to make a difference, there are too many dogs already, overpopulation is a massive issue and people breeding just so they get to play with cute puppies for a few weeks is a contributor to this.
OP you say you are responsible and would take back any pup that needed you to, what happens if your dog has 10+ pups and for some reason every one of them has to be returned do you have the space and funds for them all? Do you know how many people would actually bother to contact you rather than just pass the dog from home to home themselves and it could end up anywhere?
Everyone who breeds tells everyone that they are "responsible" but if that were true there wouldn't be any homeless dogs.0 -
There's being concerned and then there is being and interfering busy body.
I'm not personally a MASSIVE fan of breeding either, but the truth is, people want puppies - even the responsible owners like myself. I loved the idea of being a dogs only owner (other than original breeder) and watching him grow up being the dog I trained him to be. I understand that there are too many dogs in homes, but if you don't have the knowledge and time to correct them, it doesn't always work. If you don't understand the reasons why people want puppies then your chasing up the wrong tree.
Puppies are cute, BUT there are many other positives to getting a puppy too.
The OP's financial circumstances are none of our business, at all. We hope she is responsible as much as we hope the man down the road with a rottie is. The truth is, mistakes happen. Dogs are animals. Dogs are not always predictable, an personally, a puppy, in my experience, can be more predictable.
I just see no reason why everyone has there animal welfare hats on. We always want the best, but the dogs pregnant, it's going to have the puppies, regardless of the nose's being stuck in, and I personally wish the OP the very best!!!!0 -
As I clearly said earlier, I have no issue with responsible breeding, I just happen to feel that responsible breeding means having plenty of homes lined up before a mating.
I must ask though, if puppies are so easy to train and mould, why do so many become rescue dogs with 'problems' that need 'correcting'?0 -
Due to irresponsible owners.
A dog is NEVER at fault. It's owners who do not socialise of train them appropriately.
My dog is useless in the car. Whines and hates it. That would be because I have not trained him properly. Not his fault!!!
I never said puppies are easy to train, puppies are easier to mould into the 'your perfect dog' than an already temperamental one.
Again, it's training that's key in any case. I grew up in a household that trained GSD's for the police and I've had two retired ones myself. A trained GSD is a delight to have. A mad thing on the end of the lead is not. Is it the dogs fault? No.0 -
That's exactly why responsible breeders do everything they can to ensure their pups go to responsible owners.0

Problem is, people will always want puppies and unless responsible breeders provide them, all we will end up with is the appalling puppy farms.
My friend is only letting her Jack Russell have one litter and has homes for three already. None of whom were known before she allowed the mating.Truth always poses doubts & questions.
