Only 3?
It would have been more responsible to have more homes waiting than potential puppies before breeding.0 -
When is she due? How are you going to/have you got enough time to find homes for the rest of the pups....????
Just remembered the story of a dalmatian having was it 15 pups? Anyone remembers that one?
Oh.. here it is....

Hope she copes well in this hot weather poor thing......hope there is no complications with her having pupies and both mum and pups are doing well and do not need a vet to help....0 -
In any case, I am guessing 10.
Lets see...
Just checked how long is dog's pregnancy (did not have a clue) and realised if she is pregnant 59 days (as per your post on another thread) .. pups are pretty much due next week?0 -
I am hoping for nice fat puppies, rather than loads of puppies, I am not one of these breeders that doesn't care about the dogs just the money! Some money from every pup is going to a charity called Nowzad. I have breed ridgebacks before and usually do not advertise untill pups are around 4wks, previous litters was 10 and 11pups and all went to fantastic homes. Not from this dog this is her 1st litter. Most sites will not allow adverts from pups not born, and people who want pups would usually not want to wait months for a puppy. For all you that are critasizing this breeding are all your animals from rescue centre's?0

Usually a large dog will not carry for the full 9weeks, I think the average for a ridgeback is 60days. Not long now, but I'm unsure if its labour signs or the heat0

 The record for the largest litter is - a Neapolitan bull mastiff - Tia - in England who gave birth to a litter of 24 puppies - though only 20 survived.

Thats very good of you, did you see any ridgebacks while looking? That animal you got was once breed by someone. I'm not getting into a arguement about if you've got a problem with people breeding then why have animals? As if no one bred any there wouldn't be any. If you are that concerned why not write to people who are breeding loads of litters a year, write to all the people who breed their staffies over and over again. I do not believe that you can judge me when you do not know me, I am all for helping rescue centers and my pups will never end up in one as I would have them back no matter how old they are. Unfortunatly I would not rehome a dog from a rescue center due to personal reasons and I'm sure alot of people are the same.0 -
I just realised that you will judge me for what I just said as you are judging me for having a litter of pups, I will explain. I used to help out at a rescue center, I was playing with a dog and out of the blue she bit me in the face, she had to be put to sleep, I have never forgiven myself for this!
We then adopted a fantastic dog, I loved him dearly he came everywhere with us, one day we was at my nan's house she walked past him and totally out of the blue he attacked her. He took a chunk out of her arm and she had to have skin grafts. It broke my heart to see my nan like that and then have to take a dog that I loved so much to be put to sleep, he didn't even think he'd done anything wrong, and lay with me all night while I cried my eyes out. Then I had to take him to be pts, even though he was so loyal and loving towards me!
Broke my heart so I can't do it again, I have young children so would not take the risk of having a dog with problems.0
