Don't see the point anymore in offering advice to people who only want to be agreed with...0 -

(can't post under usual name in case h2b sees!)
i went to have a perusal of wedding dresses yesterday with my mum. first shop i went to was lovely and really helpful women advised me on a number of different styles. tried a few on, all looked 'fine', then tried THE ONE on and it was gorgeous! strangers were gasping as i came out the changing rooms (in a good way i hope!) and my mum started crying. i must admit, it did look stunning!
so we bought it! i'd read loads saying when you find 'the one' you'll know etc, just didn't expect it to be ont he first look!
anyway, it's at the shop ready for my fittings.
only problem is i'm starting to have doubts. you see the thing is... it is red! it is a christmas wedding and i am a typical english rose (pale!) so i was having some trouble with ivory and my skin tone and the red looked amazing with my skin. but the more i think about it i think oh god... do i really want to get married in red?!!
it did look fab and the style and fit is perfect but i feel like i was slightly pressured into getting it in red and not ivory (they didn't have one in stock so i couldn't try it on in that colour).
it wasn't very MSE either (mum paid) but now i'm starting to wish i'd gone for the ivory! but it's too late, we've paid in full. is there anything i can do???
any advice re negotiating the ivory (which by the way is £300 more!) or from brides who have married in red. i think part of it may be 'what will people think' and that it needs confidence to be carried off and i'll be worrying until the wedding now. i haven't told h2b about colour/style and what if he doesn't like it....
You tried it on, you KNOW it's The One. You can't hide or fake it LOL!
How about wearing it with an ivory faux fur stole, Xmas wedding can be chilly
Husband won't care, he'll be too busy dribbling and getting emotional, you are going to
a) look stunning
b) be stripped as soon as possible
PS don't forget if you're not a virgin, getting married in white is false pretences...you could be done under the Trade Descriptions Act! And if you are, then point B above is even more valid....
Red sounds wonderful!!!
I had a cream wedding dress and a red 'wedding day' dress for parts of the day and the next day...red is good.0 -
My dress was very similar to yours eveil witch! Been marred 9 years next week! Mind you I had to be sewn into my wedding dress as mil made it and hadn't finished sewing it! - but that's another story!
Littlemissconcerned - Go for it, if it looks stunning on what more will your "hubby-to-be" want!!

Ivory dress for the day, then a similar style, but in red for the evening ,it was actually a Mori Lee bridesmaid dress ! :)was lighter and floaty
We got married on one of the hottest days of the year! July 30th 2004 ,and i would have died if i'd have stayed in my day dress ( tight with corset back! ) all day and night ! lol
was in my day dress from 10am - 6pm then my much lighter evening one until 1am !
this was my evening dress http://www.morilee.com/DressDetail.aspx?C=3&D=951&P=10 -
Perhaps a hat to go with your dress...

Might be worth checking what colours your OH is wearing to make sure it goes with your dress.

Red in winter will add some warmth to proceedings. I think it would work really well.
Don't worry about H2B - I recently got married and after waiting at the front of the church for what seemed like an eternity I would have been happy if the missus had arrived in a potato sack!
Always trust your first instinct and mums always know best.
Best of luck - whatever you choose it will be a day you'll never forget!0 -
Go with your first reaction, it is obviously the right dress for you, and Im sure your hubby to be will think you look gorgeous!
Red is a statement dress and it will be something that everyone will remember about the wedding and it goes with the xmas theme of it all.
