I'm not sure you're taking this entirely seriously Clive! Honestly, blokes ... :rotfl:Clive_Woody wrote: »Perhaps a hat to go with your dress...
Might be worth checking what colours your OH is wearing to make sure it goes with your dress.

I shall try not to be too offended....but you know if it's a Christmas wedding and after a few glasses of champers/wine at the reception my prediction will come true, you will be Mrs Santa Claus....!
In all seriousness, we got married in November and it was a bit nippy in the church (do you get warm churches?), my OH was wearing a summer (ish) dress (shoulder less thing in creamy white - probably not quite how she would describe her dress but you get the idea), but with a big blue velvet cloak. The reception was very well heated (big log fire) so wifey was very happy to lose the cloak and show off her dress. Layers are a very good idea, even a shawl of some sort would help keep you keep warm and you could go for a more traditional wedding colour (white or cream), and still maintain the festive look, then lose the shawl at the reception, put your Santa hat on and get down to some serious partying.

When hunting for my wedding dress I loved the look of any red in the dresses. Made them look spectacular. However fiancee wanted me to wear a traditional white dress, so I bore that in mind when shopping. Fortunately I can wear white, especially with my carefully built tan.
I think you should listen to your gut instincts, and you will look like a princess! And not at all like Mrs Santa! Remember also (this will deffo make your mind up) the dirt won't show up as much on the red as it would on the ivory and winters can be muddy...
Also with your complexion it sounds like you would be better off wearing a red stole with the ivory version anyway.
Oh, and I wasn't allowed to change my mind once I paid for my dress - even after the deposit, I could have lost that. Horrible shop didn't even do the alterations properly and the poor thing dragged on the floor unless I stood to attention (compulsory £145 charge!).
And and and, wear all the jewellery you want - definitely wear the tiara, I would love to wear mine again, but it seems in real life there aren't as many opportunities!:wall:0 -
my best friend is getting married in june and she's having a purple wedding dress - see here http://www.venusbridal.com/cgi-bin/description.asp?dress=K3359&dressline=PallasAthena
you don't have to be in white to get married0 -

I had a red jacket over my ivory dress - was fantastic. I'm really pale so the red really suited me.
Go for it - be different.

I wore a off white strapless chiffon sheath dress for my december wedding, with a floor length holly-green velvet opera cloak which my mum made me (out of curtain velvet but no-one would have known!). I was really snuggly in it. I think the red dress idea is stunning, wish I hadn't been so traditioanl now (but the marriage failed anyway:rolleyes:). Something is a pale gold would compliment the dress & probably your skin tone & still be christmassy without the Mrs Father Christas effect;)

Go with the red if it really made you look so fab. I will be!
To be honest, white is one of the hardest colours to carry off unless you have perfect skin tone, thin and about 6 foot tall like those model brides in the magazine! I could never fathom why, apart from the dictation of "tradition" which is false anyway as the traditional colour used to be blue for purity before Queen Victoria came along, any bride would wish to wear a colour that is very difficult to pull off.
Go for the red, it's dramatic, it's fun and actually IS different. I've had lots of discussions with other brides who have gone: my dress is sooooooooo different. Really? What colour is it? Er, white.
Go for what your heart says and good luck.
