I've just recieved 2 parking tickets for parking in my own registered space at my property. The car park is managed by UKPC. They stated that my permit was not on display.
Who said you have to display a permit to park in your own space anyway? If it was UKPC, what right to they have to tell you what to do (hint: none)? If it was the management company, then the same quesiton applies. In all likelihood, your lease (or the lease of your landlord, if you are renting) probably states that the registered space is part of your property (check this!). In which case, the management company cannot impose conditions on its use, excepting what the lease says (may say it's specifically for parking cars, not for dumping your rubbish, storing a caravan etc). Management companies often don't know the difference between the common areas that they manage and private areas, such as designated parking spaces, which they don't. They may need educating.

If your lease/property agreements mention nothing about parking permits ec, and its your own space, you should forget about displaying the permit when you park in your space as you dont need it.

If ther permit says property of so and so hand it back to whoever issued it, adn tell them that you no longer wish to take part in any permit scheme on your own property, further more should you continue to receive threats/letters demanding money you may take action against the managament company and the parking company for harrasment ( as the management company are responsable for thew actions of their agents )

Also tell them to stop tresapssing on your property.
to up the ante further, if you need to buy some cleaning fluid to get rid of any sticky residue form the tickets, keep the receipt and bill them for your losses caused by their trespass, if the cleaning fluid costs £1.53 that would be a reasonable amount to claim for a loss, invoice them for that amount+sned a copy of the receipt as proof.
And should you need some more cleaning fluid send another invoice+ a copy of the receipt.

As otheres have said, if you have exclusive rights to the parking space in your lease or deeds, then tell management company that you withdraw from said scheme and stop displaying permit.

If you continue to get invoices, then sue for harassment.
  • I have received a ticket from UKPC and I'm not sure what to do!
I parked my car to use the Halfords & Comet stores. Mostly I was looking at bikes for my children for Xmas. I also went into Comet to browse. On returning to my car I saw a ticket on my windscreen & spoke to the attendant just leaving my Car who said there was nothing he could do as it had already been issued. The ticket had been produced one minute after the two hour parking allowance! The reason for ticket states 'Parking for longer than the maximum period permitted' I arrived at 12.04pm and the ticket was given at 14.05pm. The permitted time allowed is two hours. I returned to my car as the attendant was leaving my car to ticket another! I did not purchase anything from shops as I was only browsing so I have no receipts. I spoke to someone at British Parking Association who informed me that the company UKPC are registered with them. They advised me to appeal by email to UKPC but I'm concerned that I'll be doing the wrong thing and be giving them more personal imformation. I'm really worried about this as I don't think I could cope with the nasty threats that some people have reported! I also can't afford the fine they have given me now so I will not be able to pay added extras. Please help!

Did you actually read any of this thread at all ? All the advice you need is already on here, it requires a degree of self help dealing with parking companies and their illegal invoices, now please start at the top and your way down.
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

this is what you should do, you have a few options open to you:
1; Ignore everything from them - they wil harras you and threaten you with eternal damnation and they may even demand that your first born child goes to a special school to become a private car park attendant..
on a more serious note - ignore.

2; Ignore them, but be pro active in your ignoring, amke sure that all your freinds and family know about the private parking ticket industry, and how it works by making people think they have to pay or appeal, dont just restrict it to freinds and family go for work collegues as well.
Print off some of the pepipoo flyers, and when your in the car park next time place them on the windscreens of vehicles that have parking charge notice envelopes attached, you can get the flyers here http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showtopic=73598 while your at it hand one to the parking attendant, most of them arent aware that the tickets they issue are worthless, as they will beleive their employees bulshit on the matter.

Option3 is to aggressivly fight the ticketers and complain to the car park owner as they are liable for the actions of their agents, if you feel your being harrassed the car park owner will be liable as well as the parking company.

Carry on using the car park, dont worry about the PPCs, dont park where you shouldnt ( ie in a disabled space ) dont cause an obstruction, and dont pay any attention to private parking tickets/demands.

one more thing, a few, people win the euromillions lottery, and a few people also recieve genuine court papers ( youve a better chance of winning the lottery) if in doubt ask on here, each time you get a threat o gram report it on here, and let the letters run their course - see the letters sticky at the top, and then as soon as youve heard the last and all has gone quite report back here so others can see just how pathetic these ppcs realy are.

It is NOT a fine!

But things changed a bit in 2013, since the POFA 2012 and the fact that some PPCs are taking people to court.

DO NOT IGNORE UNLESS IN SCOTLAND OR NI.

    But you don't pay either.

As well as the advice already given, you should complain bitterly to Halfords & Comet over the parking policy - make sure you speak to the managers, not some customer services droid. Explain to them how you will not be buying that bike from them (Halfords) because of this, and you will go elswhere to do your Christmas shopping from now on. These retailers need to understand that the parasites who are infesting their car parks are affecting their own reputation.

The stores will probably deny responsibility, and say it's nothing to do with them, and it's a policy driven by the owner of the land their store is on. All that is utter rubbish. It's everything to do with them if it affects their reputation and sales. And they have enough clout with their landlords (considering the rent they pay) to influence the parking policy.

I doubt comet will be with us beyond Christmas sadly, so it's probably a waste of time complaining to them, but there is always halfords

  • I appreciate this is an old thread but I need a bit of advice please.

The other day I picked up a ticket from UKPC for parking without displaying a permit. I wasn't displaying one but had been parking in this car park on numerous occasions and never received a ticket until now. They have only just changed the signs from 'needing to display a disabled badge' and 'park within the lines' to both of those requirements plus display a permit.

I appreciate I should had been more responsible but I've been caught out.

Everyone is saying ignore. Is that still the case in Sep 2013?

I would appreciate some reassurance. Thanks.
