Tesco Green Clubcard points - problems and issues

I sent phones in April/May and have just received the points in the last few days. Contact the company the phones were sent to greener solutions and ask them if they received your phones.
Hi, How do you contact greener solutions? If you get to thinkin' you're a person of some influence, try orderin' someone else's dog around!0 -
This is weird, in Belfast they have pretty much always added on the points in the store I use, often throwing a few extra in too. In fact it was the cashier who pointed out that I was getting these points. Maybe cos it's a newer store and they have all probably been recently trained?
the other thing is I would think it's easy enough to miss out on customers reusing the standard bags and it's more noticeable if you use bags for life etc? Anyone any views on this?0 -
thanks tescogoon we love you!0

I work on the checkouts at Tesco and the problem with those prompts is that after you have seen it once, you tend to just get into a habit of skipping it without thinking. I will hold my hands up to that.
A far better system would be for the till to ask you to enter the number of green points to be rewarded there and then, and then ask you to confirm the amount, rather than rely on you to manually add the points on at the end. To be honest I don't forget to do it myself, but I can see how people do, especially when you have been on there for hours on a Saturday afternoon.
And btw, the scheme is all about how many new bags you don't use, so I usually use my brain so assess that rather than rely on the guidelines if they don't seem reasonable.0 -
Robby or tescogoon thanks for infor have either of you heard any rumours about changes to the clubcard scheme? A rumour is doing the rounds. Ta0

At 16, I have recently started as a Cashier in my local Tesco store as a Summer Job.
People may think that we have the easiest job in the world but it is defnitely not! There are numerous things a cashier has to do whilst serving a customer. They have to welcome the customer as well as try to start a conversation whilst watching to see if there are no 'Double Scans' or errors in the prices. As well as this we have to help packing and ensure that the customer is not in any difficulty. I know how frustrating it is to miss out on Green Points. I have only missed them out once or twice.
I normally work on the Express checkouts which means that people come throught sometimes with one item...I am always aware and inform them that I can award them one Green Point for not using a carrier which they thank me for. It is made out that we are deliberately missing out the the Points - But we are not
Also at the start of every shift the Checkout Team Leader will remind you about the Points and then have you sign to acknowledge you have been told - - So PLEASE dont take it out on the cashier
Oh...and I have a card here with the Points table written :
All Retailers' carrier bags and wine carriers = 1 - 1
Bag for Life = 1 - 2
Customer carries in hand or pockets = 1 - 1
Underneath pushchairs = 1 - 3
Other bags or boxes = 1 - 4
Basket = 1 - 4
Shallow trolley/Disabled trolley = 4 - 10
Large trolley/Baby and child trolley = 10 - 20
So its the cashiers responsibility to add the points on but not their fault if they don't!! Also although some cashiers ask if you need help packing, I've never actually seen any packing anyones shopping. Being a cashier is not exacty rocket science and I speak from over 20 years retail experience.0 -

Again, store specific. i frequently have to stop cashiers packing my bags for me and I use about 6 tesco stores.
Reminding them about the bags is a definite must though!Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

I find the majority of problems with poor service and errors from cashiers comes from the 'relief cashiers' who work on other departments, and are just responding to 'first-class service' (the irony!) calls to help out at busy times.
The problem is that these are rarely till-trained thoroughly. They are normally just given brief instruction on how to put stuff through and then take the money, I have been on a till next to a relief-cashier on a Saturday afternoon and been asked how to do cash-back, which is pretty basic.
Regarding clubcard changes, I have heard no news of it.0 -
I've been waiting for nearly 5 months now for my points to be added for the phone i sent back in March. I've emailed them twice and explained that by the time they get around to seeing to my phone the battery will be flat and they wll then only owe me 100 points instead of 500 points. They are still looking into it! Please let it be soon.Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless. ~ Mother Teresa0
