Sorry - I had the green points because I bought organic food - I thought the points were only for reusing bags.

I got 40 points on Saturday (please don't ask how much I spent:eek: ) and that was with the cashier correcting me when I made a mistake adding up the two trolleys and giving me four more points than I asked for.

As I remember from being a little girl shopping with my Mum. Sainsburys used to give a penny for every bag you used. I do not recall my Mum ever having a confrontation over it the till operator automatically asked & paid my Mum.
I used to be embarresed though that Mum took carrier bags with her, :o
    I'm now doing the same.

A number of times I haven't had my points but coz I've used so many vouchers I stear clear of CS. I must remember at the till, I must remember at the till, I must remember at the till.

    I've been Money Tipped!
I usually always use the self service checkouts and usually use one bag for life (big blue canvas type ones). I usually don't get the points. A lot of people think that they can't use the bag for life bags at the self service tills so they don't get points. Just scan something through from your shopping and then place it in the bag for life and place it where the groceries go. Also, make sure that you cross out the bar code on your bag incase the scanner automatically scans your bag as you place it on the bag holder bit and you get charged for your own bag!!

Im stopping recycling bags till tesco get their act together.I dont see why i should constantly have this aggro at the check out, when its tesco who are at fault.I shouldnt have to ask for points and then have the wrath of the checkout assistant to contend with.Less hastle for me from now on.

Thats not really the point, Tesco are rewarding you for something that everyone should do anyway. I reuse bags at Sainsburys and get no reward for it. So you will create extra waste in landfill just because you don't get the points!

Im afraid it is the point,Tesco started this campaign and their policy is to award points for each bag used by the custmer,if they cant be bothered implementing this policy, then they should scrap it.Since i wrote the above post ive never brought in my own carriers, and i dont intend to.

hi i have just found this thread and have read you all talking about tesco green cludcard points the double points they were giving before easter were to be doubled on the statments not at the tills we staff get pull in to the office for doubleing the points at the cheakouts as we were not told not to double them. i beening a cashier know how upset you tesco customers get about these point in our store we use to add on green clubcard point for customer going thought our self sevice so image our suprise on monday 21st may when we tried to put on the green clubcard points and our tills would not let use. our tills gets downloads from head office every sunday and we cashier can only put on green clubcards points after total the tranaction. my regular customers know know what bags are worth in our store and tell me at the end of the tranaction in our store it is as follows

    1 carrier bag 1 point
1 bag for life 2 points
    a cool bag 2 points
a meduim size bag 3 points
and a big trolly bag 4 points

please don't be cross with tesco cashier but we do have a lot to remember at the tills plus we are timed for each and every tranaction and i know you all think we have the most easiesty jod in the world belive me i did think that before i became a cashier

I find myself always - every time, have to prompt the cashier at the checkout before any Green Clubcard Points are awarded, even when they saw me packing my shopping in the used carrier bags that I brought. It seems to me that the cashiers simply assume that all customers are going to use new carrier bags unless they are told otherwise.

When this scheme was started, I have had one cashier refusing to give me points when I told her that I got all my bags in the car even though I did not take any new ones. She could have taken an educated guess as to how many bags my shopping was going to go into (e.g. say 5) and I was not going to argue with her. One customer service assistant would not give me points for two bags from Asda and Somerfields saying that they only give points for used Tesco bags only!

My experience is telling me that whilst Tesco is implementing this Green Clubcard Points scheme with all good intent, the checkout staff are not making any efforts at all to ensure customers bringing their own carrier bags are given the Green Clubcard Points that they are entitled to.
