And why generalise Ebay ticket sellers in this way ? Why not everyone who sells on Ebay in the hope of making a profit ? All the sellers out there want to, in your words, screw people and make as much profit as they can !
Maybe they ought to bring back Swap Shop :rotfl:0 -

I don't work in the private sector. Touts are different. They buy up a scarce commodity without any intention of consuming the commodity, thereby depriving those attempting to buy the same commodity for consumption.
They then inflate the price and attempt to resell. It's a layer within the process that is unnecessary and completely pointless thereby demonstrating economic inefficiency. All it does is distort the commercial relationship between the promoter and the the concert goer, which is inefficient. So in actual fact it does not assist market forces at all.0 -
Just like British gas then:rotfl:0

I think giving yourself a username of Tout is hardly endearing yourself to anybody.
We could all log onto Ticketmaster at 9am everyday and buy the best new tickets to sell on. You may call it hard work, but its not.
If you were buying goods and selling them on ebay below RRP, and making money, then you are doing people a favour... and everybody is getting a good deal.
When you sell on ebay above RRP, then you are not. Granted, you cannot stop people bidding like this, but just buying for this purpose is not clever.
As others say, buying a ticket that somebody else could have had for RRP is not overly nice.
You are buying a ticket for £35 that a genuine fan would have LOVED to have. You then sell it on for £70 because all you touts buy them up, creating a supreme demand for them, and making fans so desperate that they are glad to have them for £70.
If you can tell me that you made that buyer happier at £70 than the person who failed to get that ticket from Ticketmaster for £35 because of you, then you have are slightly dillusional.
However, if you are happy to earn money via one of the scummiest professions going, then fair play. Personally, if you were my mum I would disown youBe nice0 -
I'm a lone parent raising 2 kids under my own steam.
What a role model you are to your children. What an example to teach them. Touts rules of conduct:
1. As long as you're alright, f*ck everyone else.
2. Take advantage of anyone and everyone.
3. Why go out and make a living when you can sit on your a$$ ripping off people?
If you had kept your mouth shut and not spouted off that you are holier than all and sod everyone else, but to spout off about it and wind up real fans with your pathetic attitude is unforgivable.
I'm a great believer in karma and all that lovely cash you have? You'll be getting a big bill for something soon0 -

But how is this different to someone buying up *any* commodity that is in limited supply, in order to sell on? Be it someone buying PS3s to sell on eBay, to Sainsburys signing an exclusive deal for that hot sauce? Why are concert tickets different?
Don't get me wrong, I have no idea who is right or wrong in this. Emotionally I can see why people are cross about touts buying tickets, although i can also see that they make tickets available to people (many of them the so called 'genuine' fans) that might not otherwise have been able to get them.
However, at the end of the day, the tickets are just a commodity and I am not sure logically why they are seen as any different to any other commodity.
Afterall, the concert promoters, the artists, etc. aren't selling these for the "good of the fans", they are doing it for profit. They also don't care whether a 'genuine fan' buys the ticket, or some guy who is just wanting a night out, just as long as they sell.0 -

Jo, I couldnt agree more. This is the problem. People want to help other moneysavers. Unfortunately the terms tout and "somebody willing to help others" do not go hand in handBe nice0 -
I agree Jo, but I think unashamedly extorting money from other people is never going to go down well. I was a single parent and struggled for a long time and I would never have considered doing that. Its tantamount to mugging someone in my opinion.:dance:One good turn gets most of the duvet!! :dance:0

Really? If you wanted to go to to see your all time favourate band live in concert but for some reason were unable to call to get the tickets at the time specified (for example you were on holiday), would you not consider the fact that there was another source for those tickets, available at a time when you could buy them, helpful?0
