I agree Jo, but I think unashamedly extorting money from other people is never going to go down well. I was a single parent and struggled for a long time and I would never have considered doing that. Its tantamount to mugging someone in my opinion.

I wouldnt say mugging. Buyers do choose to pay the inflated price. Mugging is phsyical violence also. But neither touts nor muggers have much of a conscence.

I recall some years ago I was going to a Siouxsie & The Banshees gig. I had tickets (I would never go to a gig hoping to get tickets on the day) and this piece of garbage asked me if I wanted tickets I said NO , he retorted "No Thank You" , I glared at him and said an emphatic NO - to which I got a tirade of abuse.

Cheeky **** - wants to rip me off and I should be grateful for it
Hate and I do mean Hate my apple Mac Computer - wish I'd never bought the thing
    Do little and often
Please stop using the word "of" when you actually mean "have" - it's damned annoying

Really? If you wanted to go to to see your all time favourate band live in concert but for some reason were unable to call to get the tickets at the time specified (for example you were on holiday), would you not consider the fact that there was another source for those tickets, available at a time when you could buy them, helpful?

Touts are not "willing to help others". They are purely there for greed.
Yes, I would find it useful if I can buy on ebay, but I wouldnt do an OTT BIN, or a high price, I would wait for a fair price, like my last BIN tickets.

So, if I REALLY wanted to see my all time fave ban , but could only afford face value, a tout would say... "sure mate, really glad I can help you out". Of course not.

Genuine sellers are happy to get their money back.

Making £1500 in the last month? And an equivalent for the previous year? Tout is selling anything in demand, not just Police, or Take That.

This is worse than the people buying up ELMO to stop them being on shelves and then rip mums off

I agree with this, IF the buyer chooses to pay the price that is on offer then thats their choice. They are not being ripped off, no one is forcing them to buy the tickets!

Everyone makes a profit out of us in every angel in life, supermarkets, energy, phone companies etc etc etc.....selling tickets for a profit is a business.

Personally I say good luck to the people who can get hold of popular tickets with good seats, by the time I get there the seats are always like row Z :rotfl:

What if someone sells the tickets in an auction and sets the starting price low though. Is that ok? Afterall they are not asking for a price higher than the face value.

Why is it worse? What's the difference?

thats because many touts employ a small army of people to phone through on their behalf and bung them a few quid for doing so....;)

Has it not occurred to you that this is probably because huge numbers of tickets have been bought up by touts?

Anyone buying anything in excess (tickets, Elmos. Nintendo Wii e.t.c) to then sell on at a much higher price on eBay should be ashamed of themselves. Just buy the amount you need and let others have the chance of buying them at their RRP.
