I can't believe my Police tickets only reached face value on ebay

  • Good to know there are still some people with scruples about.

There are definitely people out there with scruples who put making a complete stranger happy before making a quick buck on Ebay. It happened to me on here, in fact. A very kind person on here won 2 tickets to see England play Ecuador in the World Cup Round of 16 in Stuttgart. That person couldn't go, so offered up the tickets to the first person who replied by PM. I managed to be the first person and subsequently was given the two tickets. This enabled me to take my autistic child to watch England play (and win) a World Cup match. I asked the person who gave me the tickets what I could do to repay them, as they had made my child so very happy (and I had tried my hardest to get tickets to ANY match in the World Cup, but failed - damn touts). The person asked me to make a donation to their local charity, which I did.

So, you see there are some truly amazing people out there. That person could have sold the pair of tickets for a huge amount of money (and they really were excellent seats - right next to the EFA area, with all the England team's wives seated near by). On Ebay, the tickets were selling for near on £1k. Rather than sell them, the person gave them away to an absolute and total stranger.

Tout_or...you may be wondering what that person gained from giving the tickets away. Well, she gained more than money could buy. She knows she made a little autistic boy very, very happy. Money can't buy you that, Tout.

What kind of analogy is that?
Its about people buying to make a personal gain, not a community gain.
Nobody would moan about charity auctions over RRP. Thats the whole point of them, paying excess for charity. Its the thing to do.

Just the same as I wouldnt pay £1 to vote for Come Dancing, or Big Brother etc etc...what a rip off. But if its Children In Need its a different matter :)

I can see where you are going with it arushofblood, but you can always turn anything around if you really want to.

Its principles / morals at the end of the day. And plenty of people have different standards.

Just the same as you get muggers, rapists, shoplifters, conmen. Prisons are full, which says a lot about our society :(

Charity begins at home though ? Maybe ?

So bitter and agressive ! It's a pity you ( and many others ) aren't able to have a discussion about this without such emotive ( and over the top ) views.

Yeah right, I'm pleased for you, and for your son. I'm pleased that the original ticket holder could do what they did. I agree, it's a refreshing story.

Would you give me the same credit though for regularly providing bags and bags of clothes and items for my local Cancer Research Charity Shop ? Things that I could very selfishly sell on Ebay to make money for my own needs ? Or the fact that I generously lent a so called friend £1000 as their need was greater than mine, never to see it again ?!? No, it's all very different when it's not tickets involved.

I do my bit for charity. I do my bit for my community. I do my bit to help friends and family. I also sell tickets amongst other things to help do my bit for myself and my kids.

I know what kind of a person I am, and am very happy and proud to be it. :T

What a role model you are to your children. What an example to teach them. Touts rules of conduct:

    1. As long as you're alright, f*ck everyone else.

    2. Take advantage of anyone and everyone.

    3. Why go out and make a living when you can sit on your a$$ ripping off people?

If you had kept your mouth shut and not spouted off that you are holier than all and sod everyone else, but to spout off about it and wind up real fans with your pathetic attitude is unforgivable.

I'm a great believer in karma and all that lovely cash you have? You'll be getting a big bill for something soon ;)

EXCUSE ME? You're a great believer in Karma? I don't think so. If you had any true belief in the laws of Karma then you would not have left such a vulgar and offensive post.

    BUsiness sell above RRP?
Have you been shopping lately? The last time I found that most items are less than RRP. In fact, I dont know any stores that sell abpve RRP.
I think they would go out of business.

I noticed the businesswoman bit, I am not blind. I just put you more in the tout bracket.

I cant remember the last time I bought anything over RRP...this is moneysavingexpert after all. (tho perhaps we could create a "screw moneysavers with inflated prices" board just for you?)

Dillusional you are? You really think they are happier paying £70 from you than £35 from Ticketmaster?

I think you just proved with your comments that even people without brains can still make a good living as a tout :(

    YOU ARE RUDE AND OFFENSIVE

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
As I've said before, touts are no more selfish than the 'fans' who buy up tickets for 3 or 4 (or sometimes more) gigs on one tour. At least touts are giving more fans a chance to see an artist.

So is anybody who sells on eBay that makes a profit, without scrupples?

So let me get this straight. Paying phone companies 66p, just so you can give a charity 34p, isn't a rip off, even though you could quite easily give that chairty a £1 and have them get 100% of it's value. Yet selling a ticket for above RRP to someone who may not have been able to get it otherwise, and who will be getting 100% of their monies worth, is?

I wouldn't give you the same credit, no.

Most clothes make pennies on ebay so it's not worth your effort.
  • There are a lot of overly judgemental people posting truly nasty comments on this thread.

My local MP is Tessa Jowell (the minister waging war on the re-sale of tickets). I’m surprised that this woman thinks she has the right to judge anyone. Try Googling “TESSA JOWELL SLEAZE”. Interesting results, yes?

I think all the people posting judgemental comments on here should all get together (on the moral high-ground of course), throw a rock in the air, and when it comes down it will hit someone who’s guilty of something.
