Most valuable phone to sell right now

Random question...
I'm in desperate need of a new phone, and have been holding off for the iPhone 5, but my crappy Nokia 5310 is becoming a real drag and girls don't take me seriously.
I have a cunning plan...
I figured, if I take out a contract now, I can sell the phone I get (possibly even to mazuma) and buy the iPhone5 directly from apple (which will give me more payg options when my contract expires. (also stops me having to pay out £500 that I don't have at the moment)
The question is... What phone can I buy now, that will guarantee a fat return? I see iPhone 4s on ebay for around £350 but is this the best seller? Anyone see new Samsung or HTC's fetching more?

Sorry, can't help...0 -
I suspect the S3 will command a premium after its launched but I'm not sure it will help with the ladies
I suspect anyone shallow enough to get hung up on a phone would be suitably impressed with an 4S but hey I dont pay for phones and am married so know pretty much nothing about what attracts the opposite sex these days0 -

Your plan is similar to the difference between a magician's wand and policeman's truncheon!
If you don't already have a handset at present then get the cheapest one possible until the one you desire is available, you will lose less money that way.
Remember the wand is used for performing cunning stunts, the truncheon is used for stunning *****.
Lets put some math to it, IP5 say £600
so something like a vivacity, orange SF £70-£100 probably get back £40-50 re-sale (or better yet by one previously owned)
but if you got say a £300-400 handset to tie you through,, in practice you may lose £200+ on resale as the higher end handsets people like to buy them on credit and those that wish to purchase outright will more often just buy brand new than risk a 2nd hand unit.0 -
just buy a cheap Iphone 3gs to use until the new iphone is out.0

sell one of the two iphones you got sent a couple of months ago or your ipad?0

Just wait. It's pure greed to want to have a shiny handset now and then get an iPhone 5 when it comes out. Presumably you'll sell that when something new comes out??
You only have to wait until October at the latest, in the meantime you can save the cash to buy it outright, like me :-)0 -
sell one of the two iphones you got sent a couple of months ago or your ipad?
haha, well noted!
I cancelled both contracts in the end because they billed me twice, and I had no end of trouble with the customer services...
I then took out a third contract with Three, but couldnt get signal at my home...
In the end, I thought "sod it, I can't be bothered with it anymore... I'm waiting for the Iphone 5" (by which point I'd already given my iphone 3g to mazuma)
Good points everyone, but an iPhone contract is notoriously pricey...
Taking these rough figures as an example of what I mean -
iPhone 5, £150 up front, £35 a month x24months = £990
Phone x, £free, £30 a month x24months = £720
Total cost of ownership of Phone X is £270 less than iPhone...
Supposing I can sell phone x for £230+, the total saving is £500+ (equal to or more than cost of iPhone 5 from Apple, ie, not network locked)
I know what I'm proposing is speculative, and I'm not going to jump straight in...but do you see what I mean? (Theoretically)0 -

What handset are you hoping to get that amount for?0 -

Htc one x
Samsung s3
As examples selling currently for £300+
They are probably asking that amount, does not mean they are changing hands, what's the point of getting a 4s now when before the year is out the 5 may be available? It's no point getting a one x or s3 as you may like them so much you won't bother changing to an iphone, just hold on a little longer until what you want is available, by then the handsets above will be lower in price and you can decide if the 5 is worth the extra premium or not.0
