I do find it disturbing that there is an institution where you officially swear to be faithful, etc, and then there are no real legal repercussions if you do cheat.
In most other contexts, such publicly and officially sworn contracts would be upheld, with repercussions. But it's not convenient for society to uphold or pursue it, so the people left behind in broken families are simply expected to suck it and carry on.
So people should be punished for getting divorced, by your reasoning?0 -

Read it properly. I said that I think people should be punished for cheating.0 -

Don't think that a civil court judge has ever ordered someone to be castrated, even for the most blatant breach of contract.
There are countries around the world that DO have such barbaric punishments for adultery, and I for one am thankful that I don't live in them.
Lol. I seriously doubt that a criminal court judge in this country has either!0 -

!!!!!!??????
Hardly the crime of the century! LOL!0 -
I agree with benb76! I played the field in the past and it's GREAT fun. As long as you don't expect marriage from a one-night stand, it can be great for the confidence too!

I disagree. Whilst you are wasting energy even thinking about the pair of them, you could be doing something productive to improve your lot.
Wallowing in thoughts of revenge and bitterness will drag you down and prevent you moving on. I'm not saying it isn't tempting to wish for them to 'pay' for their crimes against you, just that it is counter productive.
Living in the past is NOT living!!
Exactly this. She's sitting there daydreaming about some Beavis and Butthead type !!!! and meanwhile do you think they are wasting any time thinking about her at all? Nope! It's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache.0 -

It's a reference to the film Fatal Attraction, where the jealous woman boils a bunny alive.
