Just wondering how the party is going? My daughter's next Fri. and she wants a cake shaped like a flower. Kids dont usually care what they get as long as there's loads of icing. We have no jelly because her best friend is Muslim, and gelatine is not Halal. Shame cos I love a trifle made with the leftovers!Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:
I have done reading too!

Ssaver - you can get vegetarian gelatine from health food stores and some supermarkets. As it's not made with animal rennet it is suitable for Muslims! You could still have your trifle!Mink0 -

How did you get on with the birthday cake, Lyns?
This thread inspired me to 'make' a cake for my boy who was also two today. Started off trying to make a train cake using the swiss roll method suggested on here. It didn't quite work out so I improvised and make a lorry shaped cake instead!
Jacob loved his 'lollo' cake!0 -
Hi
Thanks to all of you
I to went for the train cake but by the time we finished it looked more like a snake. :-/

made a lovely Barbie princess cake for daughter one year, make cake in large pyrex dish this type of shape
turn out upside down. Buy a cheap Barbie-like doll (from pound shops etc) and push legs down into centre of cake, cover cake with pink rolling icing and use a small piece to make a strapless top for doll, decorate 'skirt' with silver balls, sweets etc
make sure cake is deep enough for the legs of the doll you use.I am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards.
