Morning all, it's a new month and I am sadly getting excited that two of my biggest loan payments come out today so I can update my snowball and maybe even my signature :j

Last night when MSE was off I had to do something constructive, (the ironing is so unappealing) so decided to look at the adult education site and see what is required to become a tutor. As a result, one of my tasks today is to do my CV as mine is about 10 years old!! Wish me luck!!

    Morning hypno

wasn't it awful to be without MSE overnight:eek: I have an appointment with my GP shortly and am thinking of admitting I have a serious addiction:rotfl:

I know exactly what you mean about getting excited about updating the snowball. I love watching those numbers change (hate it when I have to add the CC interest though:mad: ). Still the overall picture at the end of each month is getting better and better.

Good luck with the tutoring - what are you looking to teach. I have a friend who teaches (she's not a qualified teacher btw) photography for beginners at evening classes and she get £19ph - not bad at all. Let us know how you get on.
  • Hypno, I'm going to do some online searching for rings today - through Quidco of course. Keep up the pressure though, it is appreciated.

Also you've just triggered a genius idea (and money-making) re: tutoring. Off to do some research on that too...

Tutoring can pay really well - as well as my main job I teach adult courses (£19ph) and do some tutor IT support (£11ph) - unfortunately there's not much teaching around for me at the moment though :(

However, the £19 an hour down here is considered the minimum to pay a casual tutor (you only get paid for the actualy teaching hours, not for preparation, travel etc) You can get up to around £25 an hour generally, and more if you teach a very specialised subject.

Thanks you lot! I have been putting my CV together this morning and will hopefully finalise it this afternoon once I have checked dates and things against my certificates at home (am using laptop while at the ski club watching the children race, so don't have my papers with me). I am not sure how much, if anything, I will get out of it, but it very definately a case of "if you don't try, you will never know".

£19 an hour seems ok to me though, all adds up!

Hi Hypno...you never cease to amaze me with your ideas!!!...and please don't think about how much you charge your clients as obviously when they phone and book they ask the price so already know what it is...you don't need to justify it unless a high percentage don't book after being given the price...
I just had an idea...do you have a local pub not far from you....with the smoking ban coming in...you could maybe do a promotion there and gain some clients that want to give up...or set up a slimming club your own version with hypnotherapy...probably daft ideas but just floating around my head...

All ideas, daft or otherwise, gratefully received.

I may be getting a tad ahead of myself but have decided to set myself a challenge (just to stop me getting bored, like). My total of debt cleared so far this year is about £8200 and I have a target of £10000 for 2007, so as I am reasonably close to it, I have decided that I will get to that £10000 mark by the time the kids break up for the Summer holidays......about 6/7 weeks time.

I have let the matched betting slip a little over the last few weeks so maybe this will be the big push that I need to get back into it. Also, car boot sales need doing as we still have a double garage full of "stuff" that we don't need.

Will keep you informed of my progress.....

I've constantly been amazed by how much you're managing to pay off your debts - and 10K in just over 6 months is going to be a massive achievement! Can you hypnotise me to stop smoking over the internet at all? As with a lot of people I think 1st July is going to be my quit date, and I'm nervous!

Right, the CV is almost done, just needs some fine tuning when I am at home before it can be sent out.

The kids have gone from the ski club for a run around the broad, before coming back here again for more racing, then an hour to get dinner before they do karate, then back here for 2 hours race training this evening, all starts again at 9am tomorrow morning - if you think that my energy is in constant flow, you want to try seeing some of these kids!!!!

As for NLP books, El, why not get a reading list from the people who you were looking at training with? That way, if you do proceed with the training, you won't have to spend extra on books? The thing with NLP is that it is quite a personal thing so one person's fave book is another person's nightmare. My personal fave is NLP for Dummies, but what does that say about me!!!

Storm, if you need a cheap way to quit, try Allan Carr's book if you haven't already done so - loads of people rave about it and you might be able to get a copy of ebay or amazon quite cheaply. Alternatively your library should be able to get it in for you.
