Hello - found my way back to my spreadsheets - I will be seeing formula in my sleep I think

Pania - any help re articles gratefully received, even the tinsiest one!

Snaggles - you probably did use hypnosis in your own way. It is becoming more popular than ever for childbirth - you of course did it the DFW way, not having to pay anyone to teach you :T

Seaxwyn - re the accounts, I am now worried that the laptop will crash and everything I have worked on will be lost forever, so I have to get it backed up somehow just in case. Knowing the luck I have......

Off to get the children now from the ski slope - the weather has been nice, so they will be really hot and sweaty. Straight into the bath/shower when they get home methinks!!

    Back later x

    Oh Hypno,

Just had a look at your website and I want to come lie on your couch (bit far though!) I did wonder though with the pregnancy stuff you've got on there if it's worth you contacting some ante-natal groups - perhaps offer a small discount if 3 book together (for separate sessions obviously!)

Hi Karma, yes I do have a website (details found on my profile if you want a peek - tell me what you think!) and I do get a lot of work through it.

Up until now, work has been coming in quite steadily and nicely, but I don't want to get complacent - I can be a victim of my own success - getting clients better so they don't need to keep coming back and paying! That way referrals from past clients do come in but sometimes not for a while, so need to get new new clients in to plug the gaps and become my new "regulars". One of my downfalls is that I believe I should get everyone out there and living their lives as quickly as possible, so if one session is all it needs, one is all I recommend, but one is all I get paid for! Others I know insist on a follow up for which they charge, but I don't feel comfortable with that even though it would give me a good amount of extra money!

I have done a bit of work already this morning - getting motivated for the big push later this afternoon!

Oh my word, I just looked at your website. Its *lovely*!!! Right, thats it. My tiddly little website is up for a major rehaul next week. I'll finish the bankings info, and thats it. That website won't know what hit it.

As for the rest of your post, I've been writing and erasing for the past 15 minutes, trying to find the right way to put things - I don't *do* serious things on the internet. But, I'm going to put this dead simply, you deserve/need the money, your clients deserve as much as they can get of the treatment you offer, why not? What does your professional association say about the issue of number of sessions? Why not offer your clients a choice? If there's an income stream there thats both legitimate and moral, at professional rates, that you're actively turning down, thats really important.

Sorry if this is going too far. but I feel for you, I really do, you're a good person, and more time with clients is also more time with them to model that.

I completely agree Karmacat - no harm in offering a follow-up session, that way your clients aren't being pushed into anything but at least they are aware that it's a service you offer. If only 10% take it up, it's still income that you didn't have before.

I would have loved to have some sort of proper hypnosis while I was pregnant, I think it would have helped with some of the anxiety I felt in the run up to the birth.

I'm not surprised it's becoming more popular. The only other time I've tried anything to do with hypnosis was the Paul McKenna programme that was on a couple of years ago (the losing weight thing - can't remember what the programme was called). He showed you a way to beat food cravings if you always crave a particular food - I tried it with fried rice, and still can't stomach fried rice to this day! Wish I'd picked chocolate lol!

Thanks fabby people for your words of support and wisdom! I *know* that I have to get that extra session and your words were sitting with me when I was just talking to a new client on the phone a few mins ago.

I remember when I first set up business, the whole thing about asking for money was quite difficult - I kept trying to justify my charges without having been asked for justification! So even though people obviously were prepared to pay for the treatment, I was assuming that they thought it was expensive (prob because to me it IS expensive!!), so I am gradually putting that behind me and I have to push myself that bit more. Perhaps I need some therapy to give me some confidence :rotfl:

Snaggles, maternity hypnotherapy and reflexology are my fave things - I have been lucky enough to work with women in labour (not at the *vital* stage, obviously, me playing with their feet would not be a welcome distraction at that stage!) and I do articles for the NCT magazine etc.

Perhaps I should have a section on my website offering discounts to DFW'ers.....or investigate going through quidco........or offering piggypoints.........or:confused:

I think a link to your site via quidco may be a fantastic idea!! :T what about baby reflexology can you do that? Will speak to M.I.L.2.B re magazines and see what she says. May be worth getting the edp to do an article perhaps?

Sorry just gate crashing on the conversation!:rotfl:

Yes Pania, I try and teach the new mums some baby reflexology - fab for colic and grouchy babies, and really nice to do :heart2:

I had a piece in the EDP in September with a really awful photo - I looked more like the one being hypnotised rather than being the one fully awake and alert :o but I really need to get in there again. I see my writing skills developing over the next few weeks.....

Also, I have been asked to write and record 40 meditation/guided visualisation scripts that will be available for download, mainly in the States I think. I get to go into a recording studio soon, but haven't finished writing stuff - quite looking forward to it, and I get a third of any money that comes in so hopefully over time it will just trickle in steadily!

By the way, don't apologise for gatecrashing - all are welcome in my diary :D

gosh i can imagine that is nice to do! would the maternity wards or local creches offer you anything at all.

Thats funny re the photo, sure it wasn't that bad really!!:rotfl:

the sound recordings sound like a great idea.:T i'd say see if they can get you 200 copies and promote it in the press over here. Even more money!! yay!! and a steady trickle of money means you know you'll always have something coming in. :T

Is strange, having a conversation re kids on my thread and work on this one, make sure i don't get confused!!
Looking at the pile of ironing... if was being paid to do it i'd be through it in seconds, but somehow doesn't have the same appeal! best get on i supose!:o

Talking about being paid for ironing, as a child I was paid to iron for my mum - 1p per item and 2p for shirts. Mum did go through things first to take out underwear and towels because she didn't want to have to pay me for stuff that didn't need ironing in the first place!
