hypno, do you have a website? We found that once it was established, apart from Yellow Pages and our local professional organisation, about 80% of our business came through the website. And we only ever paid £30 for half an hour's work on it - there are annual charges for webhosting, a charge every couple of years for the domain name, but compared to what we used to spend on advertising, its nothing - its probably a couple of thousand pounds cheaper, for many more clients. Its longer term, but worth thinking of.

Hi Karma, yes I do have a website (details found on my profile if you want a peek - tell me what you think!) and I do get a lot of work through it.

Up until now, work has been coming in quite steadily and nicely, but I don't want to get complacent - I can be a victim of my own success - getting clients better so they don't need to keep coming back and paying! That way referrals from past clients do come in but sometimes not for a while, so need to get new new clients in to plug the gaps and become my new "regulars". One of my downfalls is that I believe I should get everyone out there and living their lives as quickly as possible, so if one session is all it needs, one is all I recommend, but one is all I get paid for! Others I know insist on a follow up for which they charge, but I don't feel comfortable with that even though it would give me a good amount of extra money!

I have done a bit of work already this morning - getting motivated for the big push later this afternoon!

    Hi Hypno

Not bad here thanks. I've just had a trip to town to get briefed on a job that will earn me £3,200 over the summer.

Now I need to finish one I should have delivered last Friday  I have no excuses as my mother has taken DS for the day and DDs1&2 are out shopping. That just leaves DD3 who is keeping herself occupied preparing a paradise home for four baby mice we are picking up tomorrow.

Hope you are getting on with your tasks, I'm glad to see the green light off!

Well several hours have gone by and the green light needs to come back on again!

I have broken the back of my accounts I think - it was mighty frustrating because what should be a simple income and expenditure spreadsheet was giving me rogue figures. Whatever I did I simply couldn't work out why. Even my super excel friend was not able to sort it! So, anyway, after a lot of fiddling about with spreadsheets, much cursing etc etc it is sorted (don't have a clue what was wrong in the first place but it works now!) and have entered in about 6 months worth of figures.

It is a job I have been meaning to do for ages but.....always something more important comes along!!

Anyway, now my head hurts so I need to come onto MSE for a bit of light relief!!

Well, like I said, it has needed doing for a while. I sort of have a half hearted attempt at it, then push it to one side, but I am fairly sure that if I get everything together I may be due a very small tax rebate, so I do need to get working on it.

I have done enough for today though, will try and do some more tomorrow.

Good for you Hypno! I have a phobia about spreadsheets and keep my accounts in an old exercise book. I dread getting investigated by the Inland Revenue - not because I'm cheating but because I'd be embarrassed for anyone to see how amateurish it is!

Hi Hypno! Well done on the progress with the accounts. :)

I've just been having a look at your website - it's really interesting, wish I was nearer, as I'd be interested in several of the therapies you offer (particularly the ear candling at the moment - I'm so fed up of my dodgy ear!).

It sounds really odd, but I think I sort of hypnotised myself when I was giving birth.....I was completely unaware of anything going on around me, I felt like I was kind of locked away inside my own head, and I had all these weird images of walking down a long corridor, and being able to shut off the pain by closing the doors on either side......I bet that sounds really barmy lol, but it worked and I coped without pain relief even through the transition stage. :o
