Good news Hypno. I will keep all my fingers crossed on Friday. I have a feeling you'll get this and then we'll see your debt total falling at an even more breathtaking pace.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620

So sorry about your bad news, hypno, especially after your relief that all was going well with your daughter. Then your son had this happen. Luckily there is a responsible adult there to calm things down and I hope someone else's nastiness won't tarnish all the happy memories your children will bring home from their trip.
I wonder whether there is some sort of insurance for damage etc that the group-leaders had as part of taking children on a trip, apart from the obvious accident insurance that they would have had to have. Or maybe the centre they are staying at has insurance for that sort of thing. You shouldn't have to make a claim on your personal insurance:mad:
And no, you're not over-protective at all. An overprotective Mum would have stopped her daughter going after the health scare she had. You did a 'risk assessment' and did the brave and right thing in letting her go(as she was determined to go herself anyway), knowing her health was in professional hands. I'm sure we were all with you on that decision.
I know what you mean about the old gentleman too. It's still a shock however old they are, and it's the feeling of helplessness that's the worst. At least your DH can see him today and that should set your minds at rest a bit.
Sending big hugs and hopes that you will hear better news very soon

Moneywise if I get the job, I will be "home and dry" but that is not the only reason I want the job - It will be such a challenge, draw on everything I have ever learnt, in both previous jobs and with current self employment and I really really want it!!

Everything crossed for your success at the job interview next week, hypno.
From the little you've told us it sounds like your 'dream' job. What a difference it will make to your family's debt-busting.
There's always a downside though! You probably won't be around on here so often and we'll all really miss you!0 -

Sorry you had such a lousy evening - only just got on here properly to catch up, and sorry I was bothering you with a load irrelevant crap last night when you all that going on!
Great news about the job - when will you know if it's a goer or not?
Another member of the sofa brigade here today. I think we've all caught a virus from MSE that's making us unable to do anything except sit on sofas all day eating chocolate!0 -
Oh Panda, you didn't trouble me with irrelevant rubbish last night - I was fast asleep by the time you sent it!! I am not surprised you are shattered today with the amount you did yesterday!
I have not gone far from the sofa today. Been into the dining room to start sorting some "stuff" out and had several cups of coffee. Daytime telly, MSE and coffee are the order of the day today!
I have got to go to the shop to top up DD's phone though, so will decide whether to just walk to the village shop, or go into town and have a bit of a mooch around (leaving my purse at home, obviously!).Successful women can still have their feet on the ground.
