    Thanks OO for the thought!!

It will just have to come out of the ski fund - what's *another* 90 euros in the bigger scheme of things anyway

And you are right, choco, why can't life just be simple (for a change!)

The good thing is that DD is well in herself - no cough, no temperature, no loss of energy, so she is not *ill*. So it is just a matter of finding out what it is that is lurking in the background, and the fact that the doc feels it necessary to investigate further next week, despite her being in another country is a little concerning.

I don't do myself any favours in the worrying stakes by thinking of the fact that my dad died from a pulmonary embolism.....I KNOW that this is not anything to do with DD's lurking issue, but it keeps jumping up shouting at me

we crossed posts. I am glad to hear she feels well anyway.

If you are worrying about a pulmonary embolism - however irrationally - make sure to ask the German doctor, just to put your mind at rest.

Being a mum certainly is worrying. Every mum on here will be feeling for you. I hope the doc sets your mind at rest and you can send her to Austria with a little less anxiety.

  • Just when everything was going so well for you, hypno, and then something jumps up and bites you on the bum as it were. Sending you lots of positive vibes and my very best wishes for DD to have a wonderful week and for you not to spend all week worrying about her.

Just one thought though. Will the German Doctor be charging for the letter? There's a tarriff up in our Doctors' waiting room with how much it costs for all the things that people ask for, such as endorsing passport applications or gun licences. Costs a fortune for every little thing:eek: . Anyway, even if it costs you it'll be worth it to set your mind at rest that she'll be properly taken care of in Austria. And good for the coach for being so obliging over it all.

Easy for me to say, not being part of your stressful situation, but try your very best to get a little rest if you've to drive the children to the airport in the early hours.

    Thinking of you all

Thank you! I *know* I am being a little irrational, but I suppose that is all part and parcel of life as a mum and sending your kids off without you.....

I know she will be fine - she is well in herself and is absolutely full of it!! She can't wait to get her skis on. So I don't think I have to worry about *her* in the way that I would if I were sending her off with a sickness bug or whatever.

Right, best get off to see this doctor, otherwise I will have more problems!!

(any excuse not to do the ironing really!)

Just wanted to say that although I know this is a worry, a stress and just what you could all do without, I am impressed at your doctor being so thorough and prompt! Everything we often complain that doctors are not. She is arranging German doctor and an xray in Austria! Wow half the time you have to wait in this country for an xray never mind going to another with German note in hand!!
So if there is something it will be sorted ASAP and if there is nothing you will have the peace of mind that you checked.
I hope everything else runs smooothly for you all.

I hope she's okay, and I'm glad you get a surprise in the post this morning. ;) I hope this all goes well and she's able to go! x

So, P, you are selling houses with the "minimalistic" look then!!

As for the key to your house.......hmm....NO!! (sorry, there is far too much in my house for one person to do in their lifetime, I cannot cope with anyone else's too!!)spoil sport4_15_3.gif :rotfl:

I did threaten the children that if their rooms were not tidy before they left, then I would hire a skip.......actually, I will do the more MSE version and put it all on ebay :p

Speaking of which, I am setting myself a challenge, because it is soooooo long since I had one!!! It is my half term ebay/car boot challenge........I want to raise £100 from ebaying etc by the time the children go back to school a week on Monday. Very doable I think - just need to get my backside in gear! Watch this space :D

Thank you SF - it was a lovely surprise 3_4_103.gif

Right, back from the doctor, and what an up and down day we have had!!

The German doctor said that he felt she should not travel. His words were "if she were my daughter, I would not be allowing her to go".........ok, that is not really what we wanted to hear. Then he rang for a second doctor to give his opinion, who thankfully said he felt that she could ski as long as she does not push herself as much as usual.

So, I asked DD what she wanted to do, and of course she wants to ski. So we have come away with an appropriate letter in German, and a very excited 13 year old!

So, now all that remains is for them to get an early night, for me to get the bags packed in the car, and to finally sit down and catch up with what the rest of you have been up to today!!

Problem is, that if it has been brought on by the cold weather - what happens when she gets to the glacier where they are training!!!

It's the damp that causes the problems usually. It's not damp on a glacier - for obvious reasons.
