Hypno's kick up the backside debt diary....

Haven't been on for a few days - works very busy as it's application time and yesterday I was out and about drove about 120 miles compared with my usual 30 so I've been pretty tired in the evenings (and I must get that expense claim in too - I've worked out we've had to put in a whole extra tank of petrol this month thanks to me driving places for work - which is ok as I get a good mileage allowance and we're putting the petrol cost back in our current account and the rest of the money in our 'car mantenience account' but they take ages to pay  )
Anyway I've caught up and I think the car decision is great - we have one car and are determined not to have to get another one. We're fortunate that we work at the same place (when I'm not out and about) and OH can work from home some times so it's not too bad and then we just have to be flexible the rest of the time. I realise if we had/have children it would/will be different but as long as your OH's ok on the bike then I think it's great.
All your different accounts are mind boggling but as long as they work for you you sound very organised! We've got a joint current account and then online savers linked to it which we pay money into for annual spends (car, insurance etc) another for presents and another for a holiday fund (i know that's a bit extragent but its the thing I would take money out of if we're short).
Hope you've had a good day today with your clients and your relaxing in between.
Just a thought - if you're enjoying the tutoring have you thought of learning assistant type work - schools often want people for say 5-10 hours a week if they've got some money to work with a certain child/group of children. I know the moneys not great and it might not be the right age of person for the tutoring but if it was regular guarenteed work and gave you experience for applying for tutoring things later then that might be an idea.Initial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000

Pania, are you a mortgage broker? I used to be a mortgage assessor (one of those lovely people at the bank who cause you no end of problems...lol). Customers get soooo irate when it comes to mortgages, I'm glad your boss has backed you up and I hope you get the mortgage sorted out soon.
Hypno, what sort of tutoring do you do? I'd love it if something I enjoyed ended up turning into a career for me, but as the things I enjoy are DFW and babies, my options are...um.....selling babies for money??"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
yes for my sins!!! i really, erm, hate it right now but can't leave to the money and the horrible horrible figure below!!!! did you enjoy it snaggles??

Back home now from a really nice working day - nothing too stressful, not pressured for time, and all clients paid in cash so no need to wait for cheques to clear in the bank either! If I could only get every day like this then I would be laughing!!
What it has done is remind me that I am happy being self employed, and that if I can combine the tutoring with my therapy work then I will be pretty happy. So, I took my pad and pen and between clients I sat with my coffee and did some brainstorming which was quite productive I think!
So a good day so far!! Lets hope it continues that way.
P, I am so glad your boss backed you up
Snaggles, I tutor in all sorts - basic skills (reading, number work etc), hypnotherapy, confidence building, Indian Head Masage, Reflexology etc etc etc - pretty varied!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. get that cash to the bank young lady!!!!!! quick quick!! :-)
Ah, I have a plan..........I have to do a mystery shop to a bank tomorrow - so rather than spend extra petrol going to the bank today, I will do it as part of my mystery shop, so I am basically getting paid for paying in my own moneySuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. So glad to hear you had a nice day, you certainly deserved it. And got paid in cash too, fantastic.
Interesting to see your plans germinating. Your PGCE will open up lots of new options, and the mix of therapies and tutoring sounds good if you can manage it. Having a self-employed/portfolio career has lots of challenges at times but it's worth it if you can hang on in there.
(Mine is pretty challenging today, deadline day for a magazine and all the people who are meant to be contributing have gone AWOL.)Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
Excellent, you did find a mystery shop! I've been looking all day, still haven't seen one. Glad your day has been so nice - I'm finished now work wise, am going to go slow, be out in the garden a little bit. Have a good day.2023: the year I get to buy a car0
