    The rotten barstewards.

You'll have to persist Hypno. They will pay out in the end but they'll make you work for it.

Explain in writing why it was not a public place and if they don't accept this send a copy of your letters to trading standards and the Insurance Ombudsman scheme/oversight body. Not sure what it's called. The Weekend quality press have cases like yours too where the paper takes up the cudgels on a reader's behalf and the publicity is almost always enough to get them to pay out.

Back home now after a coffee with a friend, who allowed me a good moan, and one mystery shop. Need to do more mystery shops this afternoon, but also needed to get back home and have another coffee, and something to eat - this morning's insurance stuff has absolutely knocked the stuffing out of me and I am on the verge of crying all the time!!

Life is a rollercoaster isn't it! I have asked for my documents & receipts back from the insurance company to allow me to take it further. I can only try with these things, but I really feel as though everything is one huge battle at the moment.

Oh well, onwards and upwards :o

Hypno, Verbatim's idea is not a bad one - look at the back page of the Guardian Money on a Saturday (in the library or if anyone you know buys it naturally). They do take up cases exactly like this.
    Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.62

    Hypno,

Sorry you are having a bad time of it today, you are making such progress.
I have been an avid reader of your diary and you have inspired me to register as a DFW and remove my head out of the sand.
I am a little frigtened - even writing down what I owe is scary, but with the efforts you have made to clear your debts, I think I can make it.

Stick with it and don't let the bananas get you down (replace banana's with a fruit of your choosing!)

awww Hypno keep your chin up hun. If you have asked for your receipts etc back, you have done enough for today to do with it, try and put it out of your mind for the rest of the day (easier said than done I know) xx

Hi IntheRed and welcome to the wonderful world of DFW!!

The great thing about this place is that everyone is there for you, no matter how crap life is getting. When I am having a bad day, someone else will pull me through, and when I am having a good day, I can help to pull someone else through.

So, stick with us - you have taken the first steps to becoming debt free. We will all get there, eventually!

Postal address for Financial Ombudsman Service:-

    The Financial Ombudsman Service
    South Quay Plaza
    183 Marsh Wall

They recommend in the first instance to complain to your insurance company direct.

Just adding my voice to your support team - you're one of the people who encourage teams to form, by your support of everyone else, and I'm so sorry to hear things are going so badly for you today.
Lots of hugs, hope you can start to relax now that you've done what you can for the day.
    Take care.
