Morning and well done on getting past another milestone! :T
I'm a bit puzzled by the feng shui thing (not sure if I believe it but I do wonder...), it depends on whether you take the front door of the building or the front door of my flat as the 'front door'.. but assuming it's the flat door, I've got chilli plants in my money corner and stereo/ CDs/ records in the love corner.. not quite sure what that means but I think I might remove the couple of plants which are looking a bit dead...Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Morning Hypno and all,
Great news on the money front...you are really getting there...and are definitely going to reach you're target..well done...Feng shui...don't know a lot about that so can't really comment...but de-cluttering is good for the bank balance and the soul...lol....so am trying to follow that one..
Oliveoyl....I bought a brand new car for the business a few weeks ago and have added this to the debt total...I count the whole of the household debt(except mortgage) in the debt figure.I have all the money and sort out all the finances so ours is both our debts....it's entirely up to you what you count or don't count!!!
have a good day all xx0 -
I can't, I can't, go backwards.
That would be worse than these baby steps that are dispiriting me so.
DD called yesterday, can I get her back from Greece urgently, she'll pay me back honest.....
I spent the evening surfing to find a flight cheaper than £180 and in the end blew my air-miles to get a return flight:rolleyes: for £65. It is currently worse than one step forward, two steps back. (did my spreadsheets last night, does it show?)0 -
But OO you have a cunning plan, remember
Shame that you have to get DD back - perhaps you could bill her the £180 you would have had to pay full price - after all, you have now lost your air miles and may not get the chance to use them on a cheaper flight for you when you want, if you see what I mean?
I have spent the last hour or so sorting paperwork, but it is making my neck and shoulders ache so I am going to stop for a while and do some serious coffee drinking instead!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. HI oliveoyl...I know exactly how you feel...I was gutted to put mine on especially as it's a business debt(if you see what I mean) but to me it's still debt so chose to include it.It's entirely up to you how you do things..do whatever feels best for you.
DDs are wonderful..aren't they ...mine moved back in last week!!!!...I hope your daughter is ok..and she'll be home soon...We will all find times when our debt goes up due to un-forseen circumstances and we just have to ride the tide of time. Then other times we may find some money unexpectedly and thats great.Life is sure a struggle at times!!!!
Its funny I never gave any thought to money before joining this site but I now scrutinise every single penny I spend...I sure won't get into debt after I've cleared this lot!!!!...it's unbelievable what this site does to your mind(in a good way,may I add)0 -
It's a better addiction than many though isn't it? (MSE)
DD is fine, just tired and homesick after a month of inter-railing.
I was a little cheesed off at her reaction "Oh Heathrow, can't you get me to Gatwick?" Actually No I can't! I couldn't even get a single flight, so if anyone wants to go to Athens today and not come back, I'm your woman.0 -
Hi OliveOyl
I understand the cheesed-offness! But wow, kids these days..... fancy inter-railing, and then saying, get me a flight back please mum - wow. I remember inter-railing back from Crete - it took me 5 days, and I was so tired I had to stop in Basle and find a cheap hotel (went to a spliffy one 2 mins from the train station, which had a cheap room because it had a bath *in* the room, not an attached bathroom). And I ate a cheeseburger, because it was all I could afford in Swiss currency, when I'd already been a vegetarian for about 5 years. Ah, those were the days.......... not! Maybe it *is* nice to have a mum who will rescue you just because you're tired and homesick! Well done you2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
hey hypno just noticed youve been married 17 years ditto0

Karmacat I had the same reaction as you - these modern interrailers are lightweights! I would NEVER have asked my mum to bale me out.
Oh well, it looks different from a mother's perspective, I hope my own daughters will ask me when the time comes and of course I'd rather rescue them than have them sleep on stations, eat leftovers and all the other grim things I did on my own long ago interrailing adventures.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620
