Hypno's kick up the backside debt diary....

Hi KC, I am so glad that your days rooting around unearthed some goodies.
We think we have it so hard here really, but just to go back a few generations and see how things were so different really does open eyes - and as you say, a novel could be made of it............perhaps that could be a little project for you.........
The holiday? Well, the mere drive was worrying me a little, but armed with painkillers I would have been ok. The children are obviously disappointed, but it will be cheaper to be at home really so I think it is probably just "meant to be". We will do nice stuff with the children here so they won't miss out too much hopefully.
Now if it was a skiing holiday that had gone wrong...............that would have been a whole different kettle of fish!!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
I can't bear it! The disasters continue. When oh when is that Antigua ticket going to materialise?
The loss of your holiday must be a bitter blow and my admiration for you has grown even more in that you are taking it so well. Is there really no way you could go that other week instead?
Hypno I remain convinced you have some good luck coming but meanwhile my heart goes out to you.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
Hypno - I agree with Seax - you must have some good luck coming up. Hopefully you'll be able to find some really good things to do with the kids during the 'holiday' week
A real shame though.
Got lots planned today? How about you Seax? Are you both doing work, or have you got other things planned with the kids?

Thanks Seaxwyn and Sea. Hope the BBQ went well, Seaxwyn - are you eating left over burgers for breakfast?
There are some available caravans down in the same village for the week that we were expecting to go, but they are way over our budget. Because our original holiday was basically staying with friends it was very much of the DFW type. If we even get a last minute caravan nearby it will be scarily expensive given our circumstances, and I don't really want to think "sod it, get the credit card out and worry about it later".
Today everyone else is having a lay in so I am having coffee in peace! Then this afternoon my BIL and his family are in the area from up north so we are going to go to the Broads and spend a few hours with them in the sunshine. Really looking forward to catching up with them, and the children get to see their cousins who they are quite close to. It will make a change for them to actually "talk" to each other rather than text or MSN!!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. Sounds like you've a good day planned hypno. Hope the sun is shining as it is here. We're hoping to spend some time at the allotment and then put some shelves up. I know, I know, you wish you had the exciting life that I lead! Have a great day and that good luck is just around the corner xxJanuary budget

Thanks LJD - it is cloudy here, but hopefully it will stay dry. hope you have a spirit level handy for the shelves
Forgot to mention - I picked up a couple of small mystery shops for next week. Only £15 in total, but it will all go into the pot :jSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. Well, ok, when I say we're putting up shelves I actually mean that DH is putting up shelves and i'll...er...well not put up shelves! Saying that, I am going to prepare the walls and skirting for painting the hall, stairs and landing. Little did we know what a big job it would be when we pulled up the carpet!
£15 is better than nothing so well done on the mystery shops! I had a new client this week and she'd booked in on an offer with the shortest treatment I do. Anyway, before she left she booked four more treatments so big things from little acorns grow (is that the right saying - I remember my mum always saying something like that!) xxJanuary budget

"From little acorns, big oak trees grow" - how true that is.
In my case though, it seems to be "from little acorns, big oak trees are thinking about developing, but the wind keeps blowing and knocking branches off, kids keep kicking footballs at the leaves, sending them flying and the trunk is a bit battered and bruised where teenagers are carving their initials with a penknife" :rotfl:Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Oh Hypno, I couldn't believe it when I read your 'holiday' post.
We've had home holidays in the past, it's amazing what you don't visit because you see it everyday.
We've found it can be worth joining English Heritage or the National Trust on an annual membership if there are lots of places in the area (we only renewed if we knew we'd use it the next year). Normally the 'family' cost is the same as 2 adults. They charge a fortune if you pay to go to the places individually. If you've got any Tesco deals, you can use them I think. We always used to sign up when we went on holiday if we knew it would save. It's not just stately homes there are places like Wicken Fen too. http://www.wicken.org.uk/
If the back improves camping kit will probably be extremely cheap to pick up given the weather so far this 'summer'. We had a super time touring Scotland last year.
Well done on even more mystery shops.
Good luck with the comps.0 -

I know just how you feel, you just have to keep going and not give up. Oak trees survive.0
