Hey Hypno - whenever I do the OS thread flylady I burn out a little! Instead, I've joined the flylady emails - but the UK ones, so that I get them at the appropriate times- might be worth trying? (as well as the OS thread?)

    Wow - what a mystery shop! :)

£65 is brilliant for a mystery shop - was it a difficult one? Sea, was it you who told me about the housework fairy (or something like that)? I've been trying the 'put 5 things away' tactic with Ryan, and it's actually working!

    It's very very strange lol!

I, of course, have my own housework fairy, who sneaks in every night, cleans up, tidies up, and does the washing and ironing - I managed to catch her fluffing my sofa cushions once.....

Sea, sorry to be REALLY lazy, but could you give me a quick explanation of the house fairy? I looked on that website but got scared away by the juddering music and techno speak!

PS sorry hypno for the thread hijack but I know you're off putting the world to rights with Pania so you wont mind us chatting on your thread!

Seax - it's Santa's sister who didn't get into tooth fairy college (long story lol). There are short videos on site which encourage kids to clean and tidy their rooms and have good table manners etc. There are 2 examples on jumpcut.com (search for house fairy). I showed Soph the 2 videos and at the end of one, the HF tells her to go find 5 items and put them away in her room - Sophia ran from the room, up the stairs and tidied her room! She now makes her bed every morning etc.
The House Fairy makes visits, leaves fairy dust (glitter), certificates (downloadable from site) and little presents or tokens for activities etc. Sophia has had a My Little Pony so far and will soon be getting a member certificate and membership card through the post (my mum is printing them and sending them lol). You(ie house fairy)can also take a photo of your kid's bedroom and send it in to the site, where she'll put it up - then there is a corresponding video of the HF saying she's been to the room and taken a photo - effective I think :D

Anyway, that sums it up I think. I thought it was all a bit of a gimmick but I love it now! If it works for just a short time then I'm happy!

    Sorry Hypno :D

i love tidying up, especially when things are a huge mess (cos then you can really see the difference when you've finished!). I go round the room and put everything that's not in the right place in a huge pile. Then I sit down and divide it into smaller piles - one for things that need to go to the kitchen, one for things for our bedroom, one for Ryan's room, one for paperwork to be filed, one for things to go to the bin etc. Then I tackle each small pile one by one.

Then a quick dust and vac round (doesn't take long when it's tidy), and DONE!

I hate tidying up - mainly because so many things in our house don't seem to have a proper place to go! We have never cracked the problem of suitable storage. And despite my efforts, the children have too much stuff! I'm going to try them on the housefairy but I'm not optimistic, they are very alert to any hint of being patronised!
