Hi Hypno, haven't been around for ages but just caught up with your diary. You are still doing really well and keeping your spirits up even when things don't go your way is really inspiring. Was really interested to read that you used to work in the field that I am just about to go into! xxMFW

Last summer I used to work in a chocolate and fudge shop - making and selling both. Needless to say, I put on weight working there!

Oh yeah, I really relate to that. I haven't been around properly the last few days, but catch up, even if I don't post - sort of keeps me sane. Chocolate... I managed to stay off it for about 2 years, and now have maybe 3 bars a week - thats really, really good compared to what I was doing. Have just rediscovered drinking chocolate, so may be able to cut down on that (lot cheaper too!).
Won't be around again until tomorrow at least - off to London to do a thing for the family - half a dozen distantly related cousins are genealogists, I'm off looking for a divorce at the turn of the last century. Work can really interfere with your life, you know?
Hypno, hope you're feeling a bit better again today, the chocolate has kind of taken over the thread, so not sure - tho I *am* sure I saw another kettle reference!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Morning all! This week has been so bad DFW wise - first the laptop, then last night I was so tired, and achey, that I opted for dinner a la chinese takeaway.....:o We did (in our meagre defence) opt for the cheap options so it could have been worse, but I have to get a hold of reality otherwise my DFD will be slipping away.
I have decided not to update my signature to account for the laptop until next week when the next batch of repayments go out, which will more or less cancel out the amount paid last week! Talk about trying to avoid the issue
Today I have clients this morning and then nothing much planned for the rest of the day. A bit of a chill out will be in order I think.
Hope all goes well for you - KC I hope you find the divorce you are looking for!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Morning Hypno! Hope you have a really nice day and the aches and pains begin to ebb. when are you going to devon? It sounds as if you really need a holiday.
Don't worry about the sig - I'm not updating mine either as have paid £800 tax bill and £600 odd on decorator stuff this month. I'm way back up again and not getting to 35k any time soon!Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
Off to Devon in a couple of weeks - we don't do much when we are there, the kids are just happy rockpooling and running around the beach in their wetsuits, while I watch and read my book/drink coffee!!! We take our walking shoes and just enjoy the change of scenery, really. Fantastic!!
We have very good friends there and we stay in their annexe (kids camp in the garden) so costwise it should be good. We also get to see friends that we only manage to see once or twice a year so that is worth the journey in itself. The biggest problem is the drive - 6hrs so I hope that my aches are significantly better by then. The physio will be working flat out!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Good morning. Devon sounds idyllic, hope the weather improves for you. Our holiday isn't until September, France. Ferry and one weeks accom was a win so most is a freebie
It was good to hear you treated yourselves to the takeaway, I think after a week like yours anyone would need to do something.
Got a £10 amazon voucher from doing surveys, so had to browse Amazon, how come there's far more than £10's worth in the basket at the momentNot checked it out yet though, and I have priced them up on Ebay and Green metropolis, so they are 'bargains'.
Have a good day, hope the aches and pains are easing.0 -
Hi Hypno...what a week...you only got the take away out of necessity so is forgiveable along with the lap top as that's been on the blink for a few weeks now...at the end of the day allsorts of expenses are going to crop up as we struggle to get debt free....life can be so cruel sometimes...but pre LBM would've been a lot harder...
It's nice to know you are going to have a lovely holiday and all DFW style...I so hope the physio can get you back to normal so you can have a pianfree holiday as you desrve a rest....
DO NOT FORGET...YOU'VE DONE REALLY WELL..CLEARING YOUR DEBTS SO FAR...THIS IS JUST A BLIP0 -
Thanks Taxi - what's more I am currently eating the leftover takeaway for lunch - that must be DFW!!!
I know that despite the blips, the debt is still down by over £8000 this year - so that is pretty good. I can still get down to that £15000 reduction by the end of the year, I just have to focus on it.
I do think that my debt may well increase by a further £1000 this summer, due to the summer hols, race camps general holiday spending, but as long as I allow for this in the bigger scheme of things, I will not be too disappointed - once the new student starts in September, and I can get back to working more hours when the children are back at school, we can really start hammering them down again.
Also by that time, I will be feeling much better, so not so physically restricted.
So, the upshot is - I will enjoy the summer, I will spend time with the kids and let them do what I can within reasonable costs - orange wednesdays, early bird bowling etc and I will keep my eye on the spending without being panicked if I have to use the credit card, or only make a minimum repayment.
Then, in 5 weeks time, I will be the fiercest DFW this board has known since the last fierce DFW came along!!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0
