Hi all, hope you are having a good evening.
El, the book arrived today, thank you. Not yet had chance to read too much of it though - will give it a go over the weekend.
Just got home from karate/skiing. I am shattered and I have only been doing the driving and waiting around - goodness only knows how the kids manage it, straight from one to the other, back skiing again first thing in the morning!
I am trying to work out a way for them to race on snow again next winter. Last winter they went courtesy of Halifax bank charge reclaim!! If I get the Barclays charges back, these could be used to send them to France, but they could be used to pay off a credit card in its entirety. Oh, the decisions you have to make when you are a DFW. I know there is no contest - the money should be used for the credit card :mad:Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. what you are doing for the kids lasts a lifetime hypno, although being shot of the credit card would have it's benefits in turn. Do what feels deep down the right thing to do, the thing you feel most comfortable with. Hope you're having a great evening? cooked chinese for tea so now sitting here a wee bit stoofed!! Enjoy the dates!!
xxdebt @05/11/11 £12210.63!! slowly chipping away!!:heart2:impossible is nothing.:heart2:0 -
Hi P, chinese sounds good. We had tuna and vegetable pasta "thing". Quite nice but the kitchen still stinks!!
The dates are nice - not a patch on chocolate, but they will just have to do. May have some home made yoghurt and some of that cranberry cereal stuff.
Re the skiing - may buy a lottery ticket tomorrow and hope. I think that will be our best chance!!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Hypno, can you think laterally and find a way to go skiing for free? I once had a free week in Wengen by working as a cook for the British Junior Downhill Ski Racing team who were having a training week there. I had to cook one meal a day for about 18 people, in return I got free accommodation, lift pass and ski hire. I also got some free coaching from one of their coaches, which was so terrifying I have never been skiing again.
Anyway that's just to illustrate that free holidays can be had. Can you research something like that?Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
I spend my whole life, seemingly, working for free in order that they can ski, and DH works full time at the ski club so I am not sure really how we can extend this further. If they race this year they will need training and I suspect we will have to send them out on their own, because I can't see how we could get the money together to go with them. Because of this, I am in two minds whether to try and forget it completely this year.....but on the other hand.....
Also, if I was lucky enough to get to work out there (would love to), that might pay for them to ski, but wouldn't allow me to earn the necessary money to pay the credit card & loan minimum payments!!
DS has said that he is happy to forgo Christmas presents, so one option is to ask everyone who would normally buy presents for them to make a cash contribution instead. Problem is that this then asks them to reveal how much cash they would feel obliged to spend, which may be different from the real amount they would spend if they are like me and have bought stuff throughout the year in the sales etc IYSWIM!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground.
