If it has such great build quality, why did it break in the first place?

I'd off said that a keyboard that has to be held together with 50 screws in order to feel solid is indicitive of poor engineering design rather than good build quality

Pugwash69 - is that the nice pink Zenbook on Asus' website?! Which one do you have?
If you've made an informed decision, great, buy the computer that's right for you, but don't just assume that Apple is more expensive and run with something else without comparing like with like. I assume for example that you're also comparing the same size of SSD, because it would be grossly unfair to compare an ultrabook with an SSD against one with an HDD...

And could this be why we ignore your comments?

Oh, and by the way, this paradox will be my last thought on the subject.

The actual paradox is that you reply to comments which you claim you ignore.

You (and others) have missed the essential point. This is a roll-up keyboard. The screws don't hold it together; they hold it in place. Elegantly and securely, giving it a good feel when typing.

No wonder the keyboard feels so solid despite being able to roll it up when you remove it. There's basically a screw inbetween every other key.

That makes the T series more robust, which might make it better (or not) depending upon the use it is expected to be put to. On the other hand, it might make it ridiculously over-engineered for many applications. Goodness has to include a measure of fitness for purpose. The average user doesn't need a laptop you can jump up and down on or a keyboard held together with more screws than the Forth bridge has rivets.

May I, with great respect, ask you to define "the average user" of a laptop?

Personally, I believe there to be no such thing.

And, like David Hume, I strive always to proportion my belief to the evidence.

Most certainly, I believe the Forth Bridge to have more rivets than any laptop (including a Macbook Pro) has screws securing its keyboard. So, I'd also be grateful if you'd adduce for me the evidence for your statement to the contrary.

I long held you in high regard on MSE but, sadly, your intellectual discipline seems to have gone into decline this last year. For that, you have my sympathy. Age takes a cruel toll, eventually.

I'd also refer you, without wishing to be unkind, to Post #46 in this thread.

The difference between the two affects the validity of your assertion that it is "indicitive (sic) of poor engineering design".

why do you need a roll up keyboard?
Is it so you can wring the drool out of it? after looking at your pretty computer all day
As for my previous grammatical error, why are some apple users such A holes?
