Now, now, Fifer, proportion your belief to the evidence.
(Otherwise you’re in danger of being called a type of ‘ole that begins unabbreviated with an A instead of an H.)
You don’t know what the evidence actually is, do you – because, as you’ve already explained, you lack the competence to find it yourself on Google. (Something that your perceived but so far unexplained “average user” of a laptop also cannot do?)
So here the evidence is for you – as requested and via Google:

And worry not, I’ll reply to your earlier raving when I’ve finished sunbathing in my native language.
I had a Sinclair Spectrum with a keyboard like that. But I have to agree, not as many screws. Then again, I never had to change it though.0 -

"We got it off! Phew. It took about 15 minutes to remove all the screws."
Its like the good old days of fixing British Leyland cars - design for manufacture not repair0 -

So I return to my original point. 50 screws to make an inexpensive floppy membrane rigid in a mass produced item, does not strike me as efficient or elegant engineering. Although my experience as an engineer in high volume consumer electronics manufacturing might make me slightly biased. There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.
It's for the many and not the few. Be sure it's out there looking for you.
In every town, in every state. In every house and every gate.
Wth every precious smile you make. And every act of kindness.

Ah! The reason I couldn't find in on google is that it is not (contrary to the claim in post #46) a 'roll up keyboard', but a rigid keyboard with a membrane component which, when disassembled, can be rolled up. Not quite the same thing.

I suggest you design something better and submit the idea to Apple.
(I'll only take 40% of global revenues)How do I add a signature?0 -

Not an automated manufacture in a high tech assembly line I agree. Very cheap component cost, and very cheap hand assembly costs in somewhere like Vietman though.0 -
I haven't been entertained so much since the Mansion TV saga.:)Never let it get you down... unless it really is as bad as it seems.0

And could this be why we ignore your comments?

The only way it is remotely possible to build the same spec PC for the same price is to put Linux on it and even then, there's no Thunderbolt port on the PC, you're using a mid level motherboard and there's a ton of cables hanging out the back.
What it is possible to do is buy a PC with the equivalent CPU, RAM, HDD, graphics card and same sized display for 1/3 the price of a Mac but it doesn't make it equivalent.
It is like claiming the £350 Lenovo Thinkpad is better than their flagship T series because it has a faster CPU, larger HDD and more RAM. However place both on the floor, close the lid, jump on them and then try to use them and you'll be left in absolutely no doubt that the £350 one is nowhere near as good as the T series as the £350 one is opened to the sound of cracked plastic and brokenscreen whereas the T series carries on as if nothing has happened.
I always buy my tomato's from apple - they sell them cosseted in tissue paper then encased in a steel box.
Those one's you get from the supermarket's are alway's squashing when you jump on them, just like cheap laptop's.
I find sturdiness is the key factor when deciding what to buy. Actual performance in the intended use is irrelevant if it can't take 11 stone's through 2 size 8 boots! :cool:0
