I don't see why people keep posting scares like this.
.
Once bitten twice shy post-Ovivo.
I have normally earned a gig a month for the last year. Last month barely 200mb and the last week barely anything.
Mrs kar only tops up occasionally and there are very few adverts for her...only 4 today since last week.If the ball had gone in the net it would have been a goal.If my Auntie had been a man she'd have been my Uncle.0 -

I was happy with Ovivo for 18 months for just £5. It was sad to see the end of it. I believe the Samba business model is viable as long as their users are willing to watch ads regularly and wholesale costs remain steady.0 -
I hope you are right.
Since Vodafone got rid of their unexpiring mobile broadband tariffs for their older dongles I rely on Samba for unexpiring "airtime" for my Mifi on holidays and my 3G tablet when there isn't free Wi-Fi.If the ball had gone in the net it would have been a goal.If my Auntie had been a man she'd have been my Uncle.0 -
I have over 22 GB with Samba but don't feel scared at all.
Samba and Ovivo has important differences.
Ovivo was one man band in practice. Samba on the other hand was funded with venture capital and is advised capable business brains.
With the business model of Ovivo, calls could be made without watching any ads. With Samba ads needs to be watched before earning any credit. So its revenue is 100% ad supported.
Company research pages show that finances of Samba Communications Limited is in good shape.0 -
I have had an issue since last Tuesday. I got an email saying my account is blocked because I have used all my data . I have 380MB of credit and can still watch ads. No reply from samba to emails etc0

I saw a new Tourism Australia ad there, after 3 seconds touched screen by accident it jumped to the ad's web page. Now I cannot watch ad at all as it says I've already watched it!
Stupid Samba!0 -
Just discovered Samba Mobile from elsewhere. On first read, it looks OK, but then again so did Ovivo but it collapsed before I could try it.
It seems it might be right for me. I've taken on board the watching ads to accumulate data and think that if when I am using my laptop connected to my house wifi, I had a Samba Mobile SD card in my as yet not used mifi, I could let my tablet run as I use the laptop and although it would appear I'm watching it, I wouldn't be, just keeping an eye on it. Then I would presumably earn data.
Is this an acceptable theory so far ?
I only want to use my mifi/tablet when away from home so will not be entirely dependent on it, it would be occasional use.
Any comments so far please? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
We watch the ads on the Home broadband using that bandwidth and get the data for the Sim that is in a Mi-fi and also a Sim (under a different account) for the 3G tablet.
I suspect many people have sound off and rarely look at the ads as they are running. There are no prompts that pop up like on Nectar Adpoints that you have to tick to ensure you are really watching.
When we are away if you watch the ads on the Mi-fi or Tablet the data is "free" for the purpose of watching new ads.If the ball had gone in the net it would have been a goal.If my Auntie had been a man she'd have been my Uncle.0 -
Encouraged so far Kar999
So talk me though this please. I request an SD card for my mifi. How much will that cost and will that be the only charge?
Once it arrives, I will remove the Vodafone SD card from the mifi as it came with that (from Argos). No doubt there has to be some sort of setting up, is it easy ? remember I failed with the Vodafone one.
Assuming now it is set up and working (can't believe this), no doubt I will have to stop my tablet picking up my house wifi. Then try and connect the tablet to wifi ??????????????
Am I making too much of this? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Firstly Samba uses the Three network so as your Mi-Fi is a Vodafone one you will need to get it unlocked to use any network. Depending on the make that shouldn't cost more than a couple of quid from a reputable e-bay seller. Just Google unlock Huawei E123 or ZTE 1234 or whatever your make is.If the ball had gone in the net it would have been a goal.If my Auntie had been a man she'd have been my Uncle.0
