Samba Mobile Broadband - Is it Really Free?

I'm new to this data thing, & I've only just discovered this Samba one, how is it actually working for you, is it worth the hassle, can you start an ad and go do something else or does it require some sort of input to prove you're watching.
Is there a new code as BG1 does not do anything.
I already have a dongle so which size sim should I get.
We're on a fixed income but have a small Motorhome and laptop with a so far unused dongle, so we only need data occasionally as we have Broadband at home so don't need the dongle to watch the ads.
My phone has 500mb of data per month which at home is enough but when away is not.
I just don't want to get into something I'm not familiar with, I just want a decent cheap data allowance, Argos do a 6gb data sim @ £14.99 but it has a 90 day limit, 365 would have been great, Argos code = 109/4352 (I'm not allowed to post links yet coz I'm new)
Kev.
Any suggestions would be very welcome.
Is your 'dongle' unlocked? If not, which model is it?
The EE SIM is marked as a 'Micro SIM'(which won't fit) but confusingly the picture is of a Combi SIM(which will fit).0 -

If you are not sure which SIM card to order than get a micro sim card. You could always put an adapter which is very easy to get it on eBay to make it standard SIM card.
Also keep in mind SAMBA piggy bags "Three" network so your dongle needs to be locked to three or totally unlocked.
Whether it is worthy or not is up to you to decide. TBH I myself find it quite frustrating considering it is only very limited MB you could get by watching ads to top up your allowance due to availability of ads to watch.
But the good thing is that the expire date of your allowance is indefinite (at least until today). Watching ads could run on background. But for this you also need to sit in front of your computer, Laptop or Gadgets as only one ad could be watch at a time.0 -

I havent had any ads available to view for a few days now, as per advice above I have moved all the sliders to the right and hope that will improve things. Has anyone else noticed a complete lack of ads over the last few days? Is it signalling the beginning of the end for Samba?0

Same here. Here is my screen
17 April 28.00 MB
18 April 10.50 MB
23 April 13.50 MB
So between 19-22 no ads available to earn credit and I logged on twice a day.
So not to worry as there is nothing wrong with your profile.
Other people might want to share their experience so we could be sure that there are not any ads to click between those dates ...0 -
It seems Samba mobile is not fulfilling orders lately. Has anyone received a Samba sim recently?
I have a feeling that Samba has stopped promoting their free broadband service as all their Samba offers has been discontinued.0 -
There was a hotukdeals thread last week saying they were putting a half price sim offer on their facebook page. So something must still be going on. Perhaps all the adverts are going to the new customers to get them going?
I had nothing Sunday or Monday but on Tuesday received enough lucky dips to get my 10mb start of week bonus to give 17mb and had about 10mb of lucky dips today. So not much but still a trickle.
I do faintly wonder how much the economics relies on us all hoarding our mb. If everyone used up all their allowances at once would they survive? Who knows.0 -
I had 2 gig "in the bank" so haven't looked at any ads for ages.
Just tried and I'm getting lots of ads on offer, quite a few from firms I hadn't seen before (but then it has been a few months)0 -

There are lots of posts on their webpage about the lack of adverts and Sim orders not being fullfilled.
The ads have been down to just two or three a day for a few wekks now. For the first time ever today I have not had one single one available to view and on another account the few that were available that I watched weren't credited.
I don't wish to scaremonger because it may be a blip but I wouldnt invest in buying a Sim or Airtime just now... we all know what happened to the similar business model for Ovivo. :eek:If the ball had gone in the net it would have been a goal.If my Auntie had been a man she'd have been my Uncle.0 -
I don't see why people keep posting scares like this.
As has been said before there may be arrangements with advertisers to show each ad to each account only a certain number of times, rather than unlimited scope.
I haven't logged in for a while and there are plenty of adverts just now
As well as that Samba apparently has arrangements to show adverts to users of certain other phone brands, and those seem to show similar traits - plenty to begin with then tails off a bit.0
