The other thing I am trying today is I have put an elastic band around my wrist, so tonight, when my inner voice starts giving me grief, I am going to snap the band on my wrist and say 'STOP'.
Apparently after a while this method becomes very effective, if painful. Worth a shot, right?Smoke Free since 1 January 20130 -
I will definitely get my head round the excercise side of things once I've got my head straight ....promise
. And yes you did make me smile :j see its working already x
Now that's a lot better, anablle!! I'd still go ahead and ask your girls for their help, youngsters love to feel they're helping Mum and giving her the extra support, even more so as I bet they've hated you smoking! Draw them in.
Hugs, Sue xxI'm not having any cravings as such, just unsettled, especially in the evening.
I even asked my OH for a fag before I went to bed last night and he said how much I would regret it, I threw my toys out of the pram, but then slept like a baby and this morning am SO glad that I didnt have one.
I don't want to smoke, am doing brilliantly, so why is my mind trying to sabotage me?
Morning warez - I'm delighted to hear yet again you had a good night's sleep! :grinheart
Don't worry too much about the feelings you're experiencing, part of it is the remnants of the 'natural' thought process caused by old nic throughout the years you've smoked. The rest from your own feelings of disbelief that you might just be on your way out of this smokey life you've led for so long.
I'm sure that's why we still get flashes of "oh, time to have a ciggy" for a while after we stop, but after all the years it's barely any wonder really.
Your OH is a saint and said those perfect words last night, he's a gem!!Throw the toys out...whatever's needed at the time, it's all natural in the early days, warez.
Also, in the past you've only managed to get so far in, and in a sense I wouldn't be surprised if your conscience is prepared for it not to be for the long haul. However, we all know different don't we!!THIS TIME is going to be the time that works!!!!
If it helps, leave notes around with "You HAVE stopped smoking now - whooopeeeee!!!!" on....anything to help get it through to you.
Keep occupied during the evenings with something you love doing.
Still take each day at a time, but in a very positive manner!
You'll get there.
Hugs, Sue xx

I hope you're well and have had a wonderful Christmas. A very Happy New Year, Kiwi!!!!

I'm finishing this mornings post with Kiwi's great words of advice, folks, to me it's brilliant.
"A new years resolution to stop smoking works its magic in so many ways; certainly health and wealth will be improved greatly and lets face it what more in life could you wish for?
Kia kaha (stay strong)"

Hello everyone,
I had a little blip today but maanging to keep on going..... I know that stopping is the best way, I simply don't want to be caught in the smoking trap unable to get out.0 -

Debbie, that is totally wonderful news and I'm so terribly proud of you!!!!! :j :T :j It took a little longer that you'd planned, but you've gone your first full day which is wonderful. Keep all that kept you strong in mind and know that you CAN do it again and again!
However, one day at a time is all anyone asks, but stay strong and focused and you WILL get there!!!
Always remember the Quitters Pledge and promise not to smoke today, but tomorrow - IF you wish you may!
Smile at your achievement, Debbie, you've done GREAT!!!!!!

Hi babes, not sure exactly what you mean by a little blip, but if it was just a puff or two then please, let it go and move on.....but to not get caught in the smoking trap.....
......keep away from any puff or any fag - please! If you don't then you always run the risk of the trap holding you back from good health, just as sure as a spider's web keeps the fly where it wants - don't allow the evils of nicotine from keeping you living your life - it's far too precious it's YOUR LIFE!!
You also should remember the Quitters Pledge and promise not to smoke today, but tomorrow - IF you wish you may! Renew that pledge as often as you need.
Stay strong and remember - you want your LIFE!!!
Hugs, Sue xx
Please note everyone! Could you all kindly pop your days free and method used on your Title Bar to make it easy for everyone to help you and for others to help see which method might be best for them. See my Title Bar above.

Hi everyone, just checking in as I've been so busy the last couple of days haven't had time to post. Babes and debs please don't worry too much about having a blip it's not what you've done that's important it's what you do now
all those hours of not smoking already outweigh the few minutes of your blip:T and your smoke free future looks so bright for you both. As I said I've been so busy the last few days which helps so much, but had a very stressful and upsetting day today ( family stuff!) and it took every ounce of strength that I had not to use this as a reason to cave in, but it's a good job I have very supportive work friends that helped me so much. Another member of staff told me she is so encouraged by me that she had her last cig last night and that we are in this together, it made me really proud of my little self and spurred me on. :j well done to everyone and just knowing you all are here is such a big help...have recommended that my friend joins too:) keep it up everyone :T

Oh fantastic, Kizzy, and congratulations on being FREE for 7 whole days!!!!! :T That's a h*ll of an achievement and brilliant news from warez and yourself to spur everyone else on to get there too!!
I am positive that many of us motivate others who soon realise that they too want to be where we are...and you know you've already done that, and by golly I sincerely hope she continues on and follows your terrific lead!! :j
Thanks so very much for your wonderful news, Kizzy, and you did soooo very well not to cave in, you must have kept in mind the fact that it would almost definitely have had you back to the beginning, very well done you!!!
Hugs, Sue xx
We'll finish off with your words tonight:

Morning All!
Good day yesterday, elastic band worked a treat last night - pinged it REALLY hard when I felt an urge in the evening - bang, gone, no more urge. Too worried about the red welt I had left on my wrist!
Just taken the dog for a really long walk as day off work. Normally, I would have been wheezing, out of breath and knackered by the time I got home, but nothing. When I got home you wouldn't have known I had gone out. Really amazing and it has showed me just how far I have come health wise.
My voice has gone deeper at the moment, sounds like I have a sore throat, really odd, so something is obviously changing there aswell.
Isn't it scary that one vice can have such an impact on your entire body and how quickly the body starts to repair itself. That in itself is spurring me on to keep going.
Positive day today. Good luck everybody, enjoy the metamorphasis that is your body getting back to it's fag free state.Smoke Free since 1 January 20130 -

I love your posts, warez, you really do look at it all in such a positive way....and go looking for other ways to help yourself and look for the changes happening within!! What a huge bonus! It means so much when folk do that, it shows they really are 'looking for the exit door' from the smoking room which they've been held in for so many years.
How quickly we lose that awful breathlessness that has held us back from enjoying exercise and walks for so long! :j
Splendid news about the elastic band!!!! :j :T :j
Go on, everyone, get yourselves an elastic band to give yourself a wake-up call.....whenever it's needed.
I'm finishing off with warez's last 2 paragraphs as they really do say what stopping fags and regaining our lives is....a metamorphism! :grinheart
At the moment you're all caterpillars just waiting to be released as FREE Butterflies!!! :j
Stay strong, everyone!! You CAN ALL DO IT!! :grinheart
