Well done. Amazing. It's posts like these that keep me going.

Thank you so much for sharing your silkquit readings - can't wait for mine to read similar.

All the best for your fag free future and thanking for taking the time to show to us fag free newbies that it is a possible reality.

  • Hi, well done to everyone who has done so well over the past few days. I've been finding it easier than I expected to but I've had a very easy week. Back to work tomorrow, that's when I'll find it difficult. I'm really impressed by those who have went cold turkey. I'll need to get together a plan of when I how I reduce my NRT so that I don't become dependant on that! (as I have done in the past).

Hi all, hope everyone is still strong and cig free :) I have still not caved in YET but it seems to be getting harder not easier :( I know that it will get easier and at some point I will feel better and actually my 1st thought when something goes wrong wont be ' have a cig ', but at the moment it is and I feel really stressed about it. My friend that I had words with at work the other day is not taking my calls and will not respond to texts either, and she lives to far away for me to go to her house, and it is really bothering me. I keep going over and over what I said and tbh I'm not minimising it, but it wasn't that bad, I was just a bit blunt and to the point instead of !!!!!footing around, like I normally would. It has really upset me that she has taken this so badly and I've started to wonder if we were not as good friends as I thought. We will see at work tomorrow anyway...hmmm awkward ! I feel as though i am trying to sabotage myself. Oh well tomorrow is another day and I am absolutely determined to do this. i WILL NOT CAVE IN :T keep going everyone ...together we can do this :j

Just think that if you can get through tomorrow fag free - you are well on your way. You know you are probably going to have a troublesome day.

Try not to use it as an excuse to have a puff, it won't make you feel any better, in fact, you will hate yourself for doing it.

But just imagine how smug and proud of yourself you will feel this time tomorrow night if you don't succumb. Try and visualise that feeling tomorrow.

    Good luck. :)

But through all of my dark musings, starting up smoking doesnt figure in there. I think I am going through the bereavement/acceptance bit of permanently saying goodbye to the dreaded weed.

Hi warez and thank you so very much for helping so much today, I truly appreciate it.

I'm convinced you're right about the grief and acceptance of saying goodbye - but what better thing could you be saying goodbye to?!!! After all, where grief is concerned at least this is the only time we get to choose to say goodbye!! You've chosen not to allow fags to dictate your life....not to allow them to take your money, but most of all.....not to allow them to put your life at risk!! You've made a tremendous choice.

Happiness will come soon, don't worry, and remember, you've only just started sleeping properly at night so that too will have darkened your mood. Give yourself chance....ask the family for their patience, their support for a little longer, mostly ask for their love and assure them of yours. Say those 3 important  words regularly, they'll understand and you'll soon be feeling much happier as a result of achievement and having put things right! ;)

Analyse no more, warez, take it a day at a time and look ahead to a day out..or holiday - a reward for the time you've stopped for already - that's worth something darned good surely! Make it something that'll really make you smile, you really do deserve it. :grinheart

Hugs and so very many thanks, Sue xxx

It's been one of the best personal achievements I've made and honestly couldn't have done it without this forum. I found reading the older posts so encouraging and supportive - the success rate here is quite extraordinary! A big thanks to Sue who really is such a rock :T

Stay strong and wishing you all the best in your own journeys in finally quitting the weed!!

WOW Sparticus* all those stats are incredible and it's sooooo wonderful to see you back and to hear you've completed your amazing journey - your dream!!!!!!! :T:T:T:T
VERY many congratulations on a life without fags in it!!!!! :grinheart

I just couldn't be more delighted for you and even for me, it's so wonderful to see folk like yourself return victorious on achieving such success! Bless you for coming, and especially right now to urge others on as that motivation is crucial - to know they too CAN do it!!!

I'm ecstatic for you, Sparticus! A yearly update would be terrific!

Hi debtisgoing and it's so good to hear you've succeeded so well this far!!!! :T It's strange how people differ with work v home, some finding it much easier at work, others the total opposite.

If you're in a workplace where others who smoke go outside on a fag break or for lunch - don't go with them, go away from the vicinity of work and have a walk or, if you need to stay, then do a puzzle or have something similar to concentrate on; text a friend or just put your feelings in a text...just for the sheer h**l of it, it may work in your favour! BTW, tell yourself how marvellously you're doing - because YOU ARE!!!!

As soon as you can, wean yourself off of either the inhalator or the gum. If you go for the latter then perhaps replace it with ordinary gum so that you're not getting any nicotine, but still have the chewing actions.

If you do away with the inhalator then pop a pen in your mouth every now and again or 'play' with it, it's amazing how rewarding such simple actions can be.

Whichever you choose - always remember we are right behind you - and that you are never alone!! Remember also the Quitters Pledge "Today I promise not to smoke any cigarettes - tomorrow - IF I wish, I may. Keep right on renewing that pledge.

Stay strong and you'll win through!

    Hugs, Sue xxx

YOU, Kizzy are doing brilliantly!!! :T Never lose sight of that, and please, don't allow this blunt remark to become a problem to you any longer. IF she's a friend she will understand and be compassionate, if she chooses to be petty over it, let her stew for a while, she'll soon come round. ;)

Chances are she knows you're a bit delicate at the moment and may be playing on it. Give her an apology tomorrow, Kizzy and let it go. Right now you don't deserve any of this, but the fact that it's concerned you so much shows what an ace friend YOU are to her!!!! :D

I was thrilled to bits to see the end of you post, :j keep those words in your mind and don't allow anyone else to make you feel bad, you're too lovely a person! Anyway, she may be poorly or have been really busy, but whatever else it may be, apart from apologising, you can't change it!! Sleep well and fingers crossed for a good day - fag-free!! :grinheart A friendship tiff is temporary - your doing your utmost to become fag-free which will change your life - which is more important?? ;) BTW, take a look at Sparticus*'s post above!

    Hugs, Sue xxx

Ok everyone, another week approaching, keep at it day by day, and please, read Sparticus*'s words and think of YOUR journey as you too can do this!

    Morning All!

Got through yesterday, wouldn't say it was a breeze but I managed it.

Needed to have a chat with myself last night. Was starting to buckle under the weight of self pity I was allowing myself to have.

But let's get one thing clear, no-one has died, nothing bad has happened, nothing bad will happen so why the self pity.

I am back to positive me. Everything to gain, already have gained a great deal and with more to come.

My children made me a little sticker to put on my computer yesterday which reads ' No. 1 Non Smoker!!! We love you'.

That's me, non-smoker. I am now getting to the point where I am accepting I WILL do this.

Pat on the back to me and everyone else who has come this far. We are amazing people and should be very proud of ourselves.

Good luck today guys, whatever today throws at you take it by the throat and deal with it.:)

Anyway, off to work I go.......

    Hello all you none smokers!!

Just got to 3 weeks now, cant believe it.
One of the hardest times is waking up in the morning and wanting one and reaching for one only to find they arent there.

Yes, just realised it is like a bereavement, my "friend" has died.

Been keeping very active but in doing so have injured my back - still the pain is something to take my mind of wanting a smoke.

Put air freshener thingy in car yesterday - cant quite believe it - my car smells lovely:)

Still wanting a smoke every day but there again I did smoke for many many years.

Trying to sell the tobacco I used - got loads of it.

Still miserable and bad tempered at times but mainly sulking:mad:

Twice recently I realised I hadnt thought of smoking quite as often.

Great work everyone - we can do this - we have to.:A

    Hi Daffodil

Well done you! You sound so much like me, it's comforting to know that it is perfectly normal to be a grumpy old mare (not that I am saying you are, you understand!).

Hope you have a good day fag free and barely give them a thought. You must be so close to the freedome we are all craving.

Like you say we HAVE to do this. Just looking on the whyquit website brings that to the fore.

    Onwards and upwards.:)

Whoooo-hay!!!!! That's more like it, warez!!!!! :T Each of the above quotes of yours are so important so any time you're feeling weak or the slightest bit of temptation - come back and read them through until it sinks in.

You're doing wonderfully...taking all the steps necessary to reach your goal, but please remember that reward as you've earned it!!!

Bless your kiddies...they quite obviously believe you're a winner and WANT you with them!!! :j

Hi there, daffodil!!!!! It's so good to see you back and sounding so very chuffed with yourself!! :T Very well done indeed!

Though, be sure of one thing not quite right above - your 'friend' did NOT die....YOU kicked him out of your life through choice!!! :j

You and your loved ones will cope much easier with you being miserable, bad tempered and sulking a LOT better than nursing you through some potential awful illness!!

Good to hear you've kept so active, but very sorry to hear of your back. Take things easier and know your limits.

The times of realising you haven't thought of fags will get stronger and last longer, just as the pangs of 'cravings' will get far less and not last anywhere near as long! That always pleasantly surprised me. :D

Keep it going, daffodil and you will be so pleased to be fag-free come the spring when you'll be blooming beautifully! :j

Ok, everyone, more of warez's wise words to close with:

<<"But let's get one thing clear, no-one has died, nothing bad has happened, nothing bad will happen so why the self pity.">>

Sums it up perfectly, nothing lost and only gains to be made! :D
