Oh Kizzy, why ever be sorry or think anyone could possibly think you'd let yourself down....or us!!! To my mind you did the right thing! You felt weak and sought to do the next best thing to smoking. Buying those patches - whether you use them or not - was the safeguard to you doing something positive...just in case! Kizzy you did amazingly - be proud of your actions! I was delighted for you that you'd been so very sensible! :T:T Please thank your colleagues, they've been terrific for you and to you! Good on them!!! :T:T:T
Don't forget you be very proud of yourself! I'm so chuffed. :grinheart

Well i've gone almost 24 hours without a cigarette and my first day non-smoking is almost over!!
I'm doing okay, I still fancy a cigarette of course but not enough yet to make me want to smoke one!!
Brilliant babes!! Well done on almost 24 hours free!!!!
See how you go with the patches, if you decide against them, simple don't use them, but keep them in a drawer just in case.
I love the last highlighted part above - splendid, babes - keep strong and stay positive. Your journey has begun!!!!!

            Morning everyone!
Reached the 1 week milestone - seems like an age. Am doing OK. Still sleeping rubbish - finally got to sleep at 4am last night. But still managing to get through the day so I know it will pass.
Time just seems to have stood still. Am looking forward to getting past the 3 week mark which appears to be quite important as 99% of nicotine will have left my body by then. Also, never got there before. Longest I have lasted previously was 16 days.
Looked on the whyquit.com website last night and some of the stuff on there was horrific. I think I might pop on there if ever I got the urge to smoke, but it is quite a tough website to go to.
Anyway, I hope everyone finds the courage today to get through the day fag free. Be kind to yourselves and good luck xx:)Smoke Free since 1 January 20130

Hi Everyone and thank you for your support.
Unfortunately I didn't wait and read, after my last post I closed the computer and had a cigarette at 9.20pm. I was then so disgusted with myself I went to my bed.
Why oh why oh why - after managing 24 hours, I wasn't climbing the walls the cigarettes were there I could and I did. Having an unopened packet in a drawer is not a good idea for me.
My uncle died 5 years ago with lung cancer, he had a cigarette in his mouth constanty he was only in his early 50s.
My mum is fighting the after pain caused by radiotherapy, she had cancer in the glands in her throat 3 years ago and has stopped smoking now for 8 years. The radiotherapy has weekend her jaw bone and caused nerve damage that her jaw broke a few weeks ago, she is desperate to get back to work. She is in her mid 50's and after all this she still never caved in and had a cigarette.
I am proud of her, here is me after 24 hours caving in for no apparent reason.
Right enough of the self pity, I will change strategies tonight.
I will give OH the packet of cigarettes in the drawer as he will hum and haw if I ask him for one.
For everyone who has managed to keep going well done, your doing great.
Thanks again for all the support, I better rush get kids to school and off to work

Just a "quickie" as about to leave but ... Debs (((hugs))) - it's hard ... no-one's going to say that it's not.
Dust yourself off and back to square one and .... you can do it!
Some of us need the security of keeping a pack handy and it helps us to know we can have one if we need to (and stops us actually having one IYKWIM) but for others, having them handy just doesn't work and they need to throw them away ...... whatever works for you.
Please pop back later ... we're here & with you all the way xxGrocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Morning warez and congratulations on achieving your first WEEK!!!! :j :T :j After the awful sleep problems you've had it's little wonder time seems to have stood still!!
I'm still quite surprised at the conflict over just how long it is until the nicotine leaves the body, AC says 3 weeks, most sites tell us it's 3 days..and sat in the Drs yesterday there was a TV advert saying it's just 2 days!!! A shame those that can can't come up with a definite time.
Re the sleeping, how about getting some Kalms, I'm sure if you could get some proper sleep time would go a lot faster.
Still, you're doing just fine, that's for sure! Try not to think about past experiences and carry on one day at a time choosing not to smoke!! Great work. Great work.

Morning Debbie and all the best to you today. I truly think you're just one of those people who can't do with having ciggies left in the house. See how you go with OH having them, but if it's still too much just knowing they're there - then bin them!
When you write how you feel on the thread though, please do hang around to see what help others can give - just ONE of us could have that vital idea or few words to alter your thinking. Please wait to find out.
Many congratulations to your dear Mum!!! :T I guess she had thyroid cancer, thank Heavens things have come right for her, but, please fight all the desires to stop while you get to choose - your Mum and Uncle didn't get that choice!!
Please, tonight or whenever necessary, read the PMs or thread posts or talk to your OH....anything you find best.
 Hugs, Sue xx
A perfect post, Rising, such great advice!!! :T You are doing wonderfully!!!

Keep going, everyone, please stay strong and focused and remember the quitters pledge to promise not to smoke today, but tomorrow - IF you wish you may!

Absolutely hanging at work, just taken 3 kalms, going to take 3 more before I go to bed so hopefully will get a full nights sleep.
You are right Sue, it is probably why it feels like an age, because I have been up for about 90% of it!! It reminds you of that first six weeks of having a newborn baby at home, the relentless 24 hour cycle that seems to go on forever. But you do get through it. Thinking about this has helped me a lot.
Anyway, hope everyone is doing well. Have a nice, clean, fresh evening.;)Smoke Free since 1 January 20130

Hi warez and so good to hear you bought the kalms, all the best for a much better night's sleep tonight!
I like your comparison, put like that I can definitely understand how you've been feeling, though how it's how you were functioning that was concerning me, being a busy working Mum!
All in all you seem to be coping marvellously! Stay positive and fag-free! :grinheart
