We must be reading each others minds, determined, I was thinking hard (a rare event) a couple of days ago about how long it is you've quit for and here you are answering it, or what it will be come Monday.
I won't say a word until Monday comes, but...........!
Ere..fancy you telling old Nic to ! I hope it worked as others will know what to do in future!! :rotfl:
I'm fine thanks, a bit busy at the mo due to end of year on the SPC thread and with 1855 members it's a mammoth task! I love it though.
I'll be back Monday, D, and I do hope Fergie and JD will soon be back. Take care.

And I've said it before, and I'll probably say it a million (see what I did there 166???!) times but really once you get over the first few few days the fear that prevents us from stopping is over, we realise its not as hard as we thought it was and on to the maintenance.
Will be 3 months for me on Monday. Very happy to announce that! Still easy and hard. Still battling nic in times of stress, still telling him to p*ss off :rotfl:
Rising 47 days is fantastic, I'm really proud of you :T keep it up lovely and that boiler fund will be urs in no time :j

Im just about to celebrate my first day in twenty odd years cigarette free after being a 25-30 a day person
The Easy Way book has helped so much, it seemed to get me into the right place mentally, which was my big problem - I could not imagine not having another, ever, and felt deprived.
T
A very warm welcome, tyadog! Congratulations on that 1st GREAT day!!!!! :T Doesn't it feel just amazing to get through a day without one! I bet you feel ecstatic right now that you're even further away from your former life! :j Don't you worry about being deprived either as, on the opposite, you've been deprived all your smoking life. Instead feel elated at being FREED and starting now to gain in life!!!!
I'll send you a PM, it's a ready made one to cover all forms of quitting, but there are also some helpful tips on what to do with your hands/fingers.
Well done on taking that terrific first move. We're here most of the time so feel free to tell us how things are going. Best wishes!

Hi all
Thank you for all the good wishes - certainly helps!
On Day 5 now, and I haven't slipped although there have been a few moments where the habit of having a ciggy at certain times has been almost overwhelming. I have to admit to nibbling a little on occasion, but nothing drastic, and probably not much worse than usual to be honest. I have realised though that I smoked to fill empty time, so I need to find a few things to do with which I can relax but be busy....
Tablets are certainly controlling the cravings for nicotine, and it really is the habit I need to break now. Getting there - every day seems to bring a new challenge, as I now notice triggers for having a cig. I just seem to feel bored at times, and that is when I would have lit up to relieve that .....
Anyway so far so good, it much lighter on my purse, tho I guess its too soon to notice health benefits in particular.
Loads of folk on here have been doing really well, so Im very inspired!

Wonder when those moments disappear .....:o
It's funny as I can go days without thinking about them and then  back to the "I'd kill for one" stage- not happening as often tho'!:)
Have also noticed a big difference with not spending the money (still counting up in the cig) and hopefully it'll show a bit of a difference on this month's c/card bill when it comes (will be 1st full month of not buying them!).Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Depending on the individual, rising, you too tyadog, it can affect us barely at all or for a little while, but, mark my words, a day will son come when you think "oooh, I haven't thought of those demons all day..or for a week" and the further away you get the less you'll think of them.
It's hardly any wonder they happen, after all, we smoked for a long time and that addiction was strong, but now it's petering out. As soon as a 'thought' comes, switch your thinking to something you LOVE, anything, memories from the past or plans for the future, just have a few ready for such times, it really does make it much easier.
rising, I'm so pleased you've noticed such a difference in your spends now and that it can really help you in so many ways.

VERY well done, tyadog, being on Day 5 is really huge, gettig close to a week! You've so much to be sooooo proud of!!!! :T BTW, I forgot to send you that PM!!So very sorry, I shall do so in just a tick.
