Just popping in to see how everyone is doing. Well done to you all on your milestones

Haven't thought about smoking much recently. Occasionally there is a fleeting thought that I have forgotten to do something then when I realise what it is. Nic no longer has a hold on me :D

Anyone lurking, do come and join in with kicking the habit. Plenty of support available on this thread. I was a 40 a day smoker for over 20 years so I was well and truly hooked. But you can break free, it's not scary and you can still live the same life but in a healthier way with more money and time.

    Good evening one and all

great to see others reporting continued successes with their journey to be fag free

it truly s the best decission you can make, putting yourself back in control of those purse strings and not to mention your life

so far i have not spent a whopping £1,076

i have certainly noticed i am not going to the shops as much, and buying more than i needed to justify i wasnt going out just for fags..cant belive i drove a 20 mile round trip for those blighters ....

i still notice the awful smell of people at work coming in from the rain after having their fag break , and amazed when i smoked , wasnt aware that I too used to smell like that

if you are reading this thread wishing

    you didnt smoke
you are thinking you would like to stop
    or are afraid to stop
    want to live healthier
want more money in your pocket
want to smell nice ( no more fag breath )
want to be in control of your life
want to enjoy a holiday without thinking where can i have my fag breaks and where can i smoke
want to go out without all the " fagalia "you have to carry about

the suport is here we all on here have quit or have started our journey to remain fag free...what you waiting for you deserve more

Hi there Money maker! Brilliant news on you having got through over 5 months and 2 weeks?? .....so soon!!!! :T:T:T

Isn't it strange how all us ex-smokers all described it as feeling something's missing or having forgotten something when we get a slight 'habit trigger' pass through. Marvellous then to realise it's just exactly that..a simple habit trigger from many fags ago! :D

A great way to finish your post, Money maker, I think with better weather coming folk might be more tempted to quit after having been cooped up indoors so much. Hope so!

    Sue x

Hiya JD! So you too with another full week to add to your terrific 9 months!!!! You've certainly broken that 9 month bit now, wonderful!! :T:T:T:T

What an excellent list you have above for others to choose from, I know I used to be able to tick all those boxes for sure. Almost makes me cringe now, but at least we've said cheerio to it and moved onto a far healthier life. :D

    Sue x

To all those looking in and wondering, please take a look at Money maker's final paragraph above and JD's list, and please remember...we're all here to help see you through! Denis and others too! ;)

    Hello non smokers!

I thought I'd join in as myself and my husband have recently quit, husband 2nd July, me, 4th July at 3pm. (We'd smoked for 20 years)

My husband is on Champix, which are working fine. He also started to read Allen Carr's book, which we already had at home.

I thought I'd try and join him in quitting so that it wouldn't be even harder for him, so I downloaded it on my Kindle one night. By 3pm the next day, I'd finished the book and smoked my last fag.

I've been to 2 functions since then (BIL's graduation and a meal afterwards, and a hen night), even stood outside with the smokers at the hen night, and I didn't miss them or crave them one little bit. I thought once I drank I'd want a fag, but I didn't because I don't smoke! ;)

We've saved a LOT of money already (I smoked between 10 and 15 a day, hubby smoked 25) and so have booked next years holiday for March, instead of next October, as we knew we would be able to afford it sooner.

Family who smoke are still getting used to us... "are you coming out for a f...oh you don't smoke now do you!" :rotfl:which is funny, especially as they will light up and I'll think "eeuughhh, why on earth did I do that?!"

I don't know why the hell we didn't do it sooner!

    Hi and welcome!

Good luck staying smoke free, and thanks for an inspirational & motivated post - the bottom line says it all. I spent so long worrying about quitting & being scared of failing - that i wasted so much of my life as a slave to the evil ones - i look back and think what a blinkin idiot i was:o

Anyways - not going to go there again

Have a great smoke free weekend all
    Hugs

Hi there, shellsuit and a warm welcome aboard to you and your hubby!

By golly you did very well to get through the book and stop smoking in such a short time, excellent work for certain! You've both gone a fair time without smoking already, please don't ever be tempted back! I don't think you will as you sound so very determined - AND - you have your holiday to keep looking ahead to! :D:D Apart from that, isn't it good to be able to stand out from the rest of the family and know you're health is already starting to improve...as well as your pockets! :T:T

Marvellous news about you both. Please keep in touch with us as it's always good to read motivating posts, especially if you're someone else who's going through quitting.

All the very best to you both and great news!

    Sue x

Not to worry Chrissie, I used always to be thinking that, then I realised it wasn't going to change things - same with you - so be happy with where you are now. You've done superbly!

    Hello folks,

Have been reading some of this thread , good stuff on here and I am going to try and get the free App after I have posted here.

Can't post long posts as phone crashes on me.

This is I think my 6th time quitting , have used patches, will-power, zyban n Alan Carr book , champix , and now zyban again. Last attempt was I think around 8yrs ago....actually maybe 9.

I will join you if that is ok , but I don't think I will be posting every day. (Is that what new quitters do?)......as I don't want to 'focus' on it too much and constantly remind myself that I am quitting . If that makes sense ?? I am trying to just do it without thinking too much about it. I thought I would pop in if I came across a bad patch or a wobble day IF I have one.

Good luck to anyone else starting to quit (haven't had time to read all thread ,just looked at a few pages. And thank you in advance for any motivation I may need. :)

Edit......heading is wrong and don't seem to be able to change it.....it should read 4 DAYS.............not 44.
Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.

Hi there, calicocat and a warm welcome to you!

Well done on having another shot at quitting. You could well be far more successful this time after giving it a good while in between, you may be able to view it all in a totally different light than before - I certainly hope so! At least you've made a good start and are 4 (or maybe it's 5 now) days into your fresh, healthy life. :) It's a huge beginning so you know it's possible.

You play it as you think best, and if it plays on your mind too much in writing about how you're doing, then don't! You have to do it the way you find better. BTW, to change the 4 days part you need to click on "edit" then go through to "advanced editing" or something like that, then you can change the amount of days. Up to you, but so long as you put the correct amount next time it's not really going to matter...it might even help if you convince yourself you have! :D

Keep busy calicocat, because the busier you are the less you'll think of it. Also, exercise as much as you can, even if it's only by walking, all exercise gets us buzzing within and feeling so good as the endorphins are released into the brain.

Try sucking on Ice Poles/Pops (brought in boxes, unfrozen from supermarkets) they're really refreshing and last a good long while, apples too are good in keeping your hands and mouth active in a good way.

We are ALL able to do this, calico and that includes you! So, stick to it and reward yourself with something nice every week, it'll help push you forward. We're here if you need us.

Every week/month a quick "I'm still going strong" or whatever would be lovely to have without you concentrating on the subject matter too much.

So very many best wishes, calico. :)

    Thanks Chrissy & Sue!

We're off to a family BBQ this afternoon, which will be a novelty as we won't have to stand in the smokers corner haha! x

a warm welcome, its super to see new folks in the fold, you'll be in good hands here and we all know exactly what it like to start the fag free journey, but already you'll be seeing the benefits
