Today has been a struggle though. Spent too long in bed this morning as dog was at the sitters so no reason to get up. Ended up craving & crying again! Poor o/h didnt know what to do! He ended up making tea :-)
I used to cry when I craved! In fact, I've had 3 major meltdowns in the last 3 months and funnily enough they were all when I was due on
I think I might come off the patches... I think the nic craving on them is making my mood swings worse? What do others think?
I wouldn't say that it's a good idea anyone coming off the patches earlier than stated on the packet. But you need to do what's best for you. I found that when I come off them it was hard for the 1st 3 days but then once the nicotine was out of my system I felt loads better! And I no longer had to scrub the plaster marks of my legs lol.
 Been smoke free for 4 years!!

Well, how great your OH was to treat you to 'taste London' get over it!!

Re the keep the patches on or not dilemma, Sal's right, it has to be down to personal choice. However, this is a question that's cropped up many times on previous threads and we always say: If you decide to go cold turkey and get it over with, be sure you have some patches around to fall back on IF you need them.

Well done on 11 days FREE from fags!!!!! :T:T

Fantastic news about you being at 3 months already, Sal. Excellent news!!!!!! :T:T:T BTW Most of us ladies find it more of a battle when it gets to the time of the month, so as the hormones take a battering exercise as much as possible to release endorphins into the brain.

Have a wonderful Sunday everyone and keep away from those nasty, evil little beggars!!! You can!

Well done get over it for stopping for so long:beer:

I felt terribly down and miserable for a while after quitting. I knew that I would but I started to panic that it would always be that way. It did pass after a while. I think it's part of the 'grieving' process where you're in denial.

It passes. Life returns to 'normal'. You're doing so well but it's still early days so be easy on yourself. I just warned the family that my hormones were all upside down and I would be moody. That way I had an excuse:rotfl:

Just come back from my hols with hubby. Most of his consisted of standing in the cold and rain for a smoke. I made the most of the relaxing time to read as many books as possible. He is considering stopping but I will have to wait until he's ready. Must say, he does not smoke when with me unless we are outdoors so this has really helped me.

BTW, silkquit says I have saved a massive £1390 :D

Hi Money maker! So you've been on holiday too then, I hope, like me, you escaped the shocking weather! :D It was beautiful up in Scotland and DH & I really enjoyed ourselves. So much glorious scenery, wildlife too, a truly wonderful place.

That is so right about the grieving part of quitting, not all of us suffer from it, but I think it's fair to say that most of us ladies do. Still, as you say, we get over it and it does pass. :grinheart There's not much that beats us girls...we won't let it!!!

Well done your DH for not smoking indoors when you're there! :T Though won't it be a great day when he decides to give em up!!!

Brilliant news on being 1390 fags away from smoking!!! :j :T :j

Whatever did you have to mention whoopie pies for, JD???!! I absolutely adore those and have recently talked myself out of ever having any more, but that's not going to happen now - is it?? :p I guess your excuse is that you were making them for your DD...not too many I hope - and you won't be having any of course?!! :A

oooooh that 9 months is getting so very close now, JD, but won't it be marvellous when you're past it and I'm sooo sure you will do it, a darn site more besides too! :D Just keep reminding yourself of that 2617 that you've not smoked, an incredible amount indeed!!!! :j :T :j

To anyone thinking of quitting via cold turkey, have a look at the Pledge below, it could be a great help to you

    Quitters Pledge

"Today I promise not to smoke any cigarettes, tomorrow - if I wish - I may do."

Renew the pledge every morning on waking or as many times as necessary in the day.

This helps in not making quitting feel as though you're planning something lifelong, it helps trick the mind in taking it all one day at a time. The lifelong part you determine for yourself when you're ready.
All the very best to all.

Its also pretty good just going out in shorts & Tshirt and not having to carry ANYTHING else.

A bit of dosh in back pocket and you don't NEED anything more.

I'd long forgotten about that, rizla, didn't that used to be a pest! Not so bad for you guys as you've usually got a pocket or two, but not so easy for us gals.

So many benefits to quitting, many we've long forgotten about too :)

Don't forget folks, however hard it seems now and then, with time and patience you truly will find that it soon gets so much easier, often without you even realising it. :) Keep up the GREAT work!
