good morning
am back from a fine few days away with my DS , he is normally attached to his games consoles so its sometimes difficult to please a teenager but rollercoasters hit the spot and all paid for with my "fag fund" hotel too ( ( and MR T rewards;) )
for those newly quit the silk quit meter is a great motivator to tally how much you have saved even if the purse strings are tight and if you cant physically save the money, you would of spent it anyway on the blighters so good to see what you havent spent on them
we are all with you together on this life changing journey, all for the better, stick with it and give old nic the heave ho, dont be a slave to them anymore...BE FREE :j:j
have a great day
chinese takeaway Mmmm sound s like a plan later:D

Yesterday was Payday, and I was out and about driving & shopping - I could easily have went and bought 10 sly cigs and no one would have known - except me - but I didn't !
Day 4/5 have always been my stumbling block, so I will be hanging on in there grimly, today .
I was sitting thinking about how it would feel to smoke a cigarette, and for the first time, the idea of it seemed yukky.
I hope this is progress.I don't know much, but I know I love you ....<30 -

good to hear jinty271, keep that pay in your purse .. you can get through this, you have gotten this far day 5 is a Massive step , set yourself a reward for gettin through it , stay focused on reasons why you want to quit and ALL the benefits it'll bring
when I see folk with a fag hangin out their mouths i feel sorry for them
all that money being wasted
all that time being wasted (I forget how much time it takes up )
and as for pleasure you are being lulled into thinking you are gettin ( I was one who said they "enjoyed a cigarette " ) and i believed it was my choice to smoke...No it was my choice to stop and am not going through the stop/ start again evr ever ever
you will get through it jinty stay strong dont be a slave to them anymore

Oh, don't you start too, JD!All I've been thinking about today is calicocat's bloomin Chinese that I'll bet she's truly going to enjoy. Anyway, we shan't be having one, not yet anyway, but maybe I'll soon be able to come up with a reason.
It's good to see you back and I'm really pleased to hear you've had a lovely time with your DS, it's good to be able to grab their attention when you can....and all paid for by not smoking!!!! :j

Hi there jinty, now remember that the Days 4/5 were in times gone by, this is a new time with a changed you, so stay strong, keep focused and get yourself through it and on out the other side, smilingYou CAN DO IT and I'm sure your present disgust on thinking of them is a GREAT omen! Focus hard on that paragraph!
BTW, as JD says, the Silk Quit meter is ideal to help, though I know you don't want to be thinking about the white sticks to much, but just in case:
Link to Silk Quit meter to keep check on your savings, amount not smoked and life saved etc http://www.silkquit.org/sqmmiv/meter.aspx

Talking of the Silk Quit meter, here's some inspirational statistics for anyone quitting smoking (based on 40 day).
Amount saved £1719
Cigarettes not smoked 6877
Life saved 3w, 2d, 21hr
Haven't managed to put the full amount saved in a savings account but lets just say that my ISA is looking very healthy!
Sending positive vibes to Calico and Jinty. Hope you guys hang in there. Have a friend looking to quit, just got to try to find my Allen Carr book to give to her.
Oh, and I made a profit when I sold my inhalators on ebay:TPlease do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.

Hi Money maker,
What sensational stats you've achieved, marellous news!:T When you view them like that it really makes you feel so very good, soooo proud! :grinheart

Very best wishes for you friend in her journey - IF she decides to go ahead - if not they're for when she does!
How about letting her know about the Quitting Pledge? It might help her along.Quitters Pledge
"Today I promise not to smoke any cigarettes, tomorrow - if I wish - I may do."
Renew the pledge every morning on waking. This helps in not making quitting feel as though you're planning something lifelong, it helps trick the mind in taking it all one day at a time. The lifelong part you determine for yourself when you're ready.
Sue x
All the very best to you both, calicocat and jinty, stay so very, very strong!!! Move into the weekend and you'll be feeling much better...if you move into next Monday...what an achievement that would be, but it's definitely possible and you CAN BOTH DO IT!!!
Sue x
Well done to all those who have achieved what they never thought possible!!! :T Just goes to prove it is!

Just popping in to say chinese food had by all staff last night.....much to the relief of the non-smokers (or I will say never-smokers) , as it was the deal that NO-ONE could have chinese if anyone had smoked.
The whole saving the money in a pot had me laughing........I used to have a 'fag money for the month' pot......once I had started to really not smoke much at all a day (say 1 or 2,3 max)......instead of saving it to look at I waltzed off and spent all that was left on a cardi, boots, and a dress............so I had to stop really in a way. My plan now is to either shove it into savings and/or paying off credit card ( which I always do every 3-4 months then use it again.........I think that's another addiction.........and another thread I am sure.:D
I could have a fag this afternoon , but being my day off and having a glass of wine isn't helping , I am much better at work.
Anyhow I'm not going to get any...I am determined.
My friend at work is out with smoking friends at the weekend and will be drinking (always a danger-zone)......so told her that if she does fall not to beat herself up and carry on the next day as if smoking the one before had never happened.
I am oFf ,maybe make my hermann cake or tidy something , as need something to do instaed of thinking about smoking
Thanks for all the continuing support and good luck to anyone doing this or just reading the thread and thinking about it.
Post soon.xYep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -
Hi there Calicocat and congratulations on achieving quitting as planned and ALL of you sharing in your great idea!!!!!!! :T:j:T
You're doing soooooooo well, keep yourself as busy as possible so you're not tempted. If the wine's a bit too much (habit related) then find another soft drink.......or water?!
Pot, bank or whatever, do what you think is best with your money - you deserve to splash out a little at least.
Keep all you've done so far in mind, calicocat, and move on to the next part of your journey. Hey, actually you chose the best time and could view it as as much of a challenge as the Olympics!!!
Be strong and be so, so, so PROUD!!!!!! :grinheart Good advice to your friend, but best not to even risk it the once as it might just see her doing it more..an more..and more! Not YOU though! Stay busy.
