  • hi everyone
Its been a long time since I have been in here but as my stats show I have stayed smoke free.
Its been a rollercoaster of a year
Was diagnosed with breast cancer in October last year, had mastectomy in November, chemo Jan til May, Radiotherapy in June and now on Herceptin and Tamoxifin and looking for reconstruction surgery ASAP.
But through it all I have not had one single puff!!
I see a few names I still recognise and well done to you all who have made it through your first year off the fags.
    Doesn't it feel good ...yeah???
To all newbies...If I can do what I have done through what I have gone.....then there is nothing stopping any of you trying at the very least. Its very scary, I know, but hey...there are much scarier things out there, this is the best thing you can all do for yourselves.

Any lurkers watching give it a go, we're all here to support you xxx

Hi again, determined. I hoped you'd come on after DD posted, as you told her - you didn't quite make it that time - but you've made it now!!!! :j:j:T:j:j I bet you're as thrilled as is possible, in fact I know you will be and good for you.

I'm still waiting for that year to be up, that'll be a HUGE goal for you and so well deserved. See you soon, D.

Wow! What a hell of a year you've been through, cheesy!! :( As you rightly say, a real rollercoaster, but at least being free of the fags will definitely have helped you heal a lot better and faster! I'm so terribly sorry to hear about it and really do wish you well once the reconstruction surgery is done and I sincerely hope that'll be very soon.

Through it all you've stayed true to yourself...and your health (!!) and kept free from fags which is absolutely marvellous!!!!!
    SO VERY MANY CONGRATULATIONS
to you on such a momentous battle and huge achievement!!! :j:j:j:T:T:T:T:j:j:j

Do come back now and again and let us know how you're doing, it'll be really wonderful news to hear your surgery's over.

VERY best wishes to you for a very healthy life here on, and bless you for your comforting words of encouragement to all those thinking about stopping.

Take great care of yourself. :grinheart

    Many healthy hugs, Sue xxx

352 days - used lozenges to start with.

    Hello all

Seeing the ads for Stoptober reminded me of this thread. Of 1st October I will be one year smoke free! Good luck to everyone at whatever stage you are at. I got an email saying 'as you joined Stoptober last year, why not give it another go?' so it looks like they assume everyone failed :-D

That's a bit of a mean thing to do, they should at least have worded it that "Congratultions to you! However, "if you failed to stop why not give it another go"

Anyway, 166million, they certainly weren't reckoning on you and all those like you!!!! :j:T:T:T:T:T:j Winners through and through!

You're a real trooper and have stayed true to your cause - and succeeded with your journey!! Well..er..it's almost a year. :D

I bit you've found many differences having stopped, lovely fragrances instead of smelling like a dirty old ashtray. :( Plenty of money saved and a more lovely complexion, along with almost white teeth and lovely fresh breath - and those are only a few that come to mind.
    Many congratulations, 166million, you're a winner!!!

Keep proud and happy at your great success and many thanks for your words below for others on the journey.

They certainly are, 166million, we were travelling back from Scotland last June and stopped at a bird reserve in Yorkshire. Whilst we were wandering around we spied a litter of them playing in the sun and these 2 struck this pose for me. Couldn't have timed it better could I! :grinheart

BTW, I get more time to study nature now I'm not smoking!
