  • Well the champix does not seem to be doing anything for me at all. I'm still getting the craving urges and I'm not smoking any less. I'm not getting any side effects either apart from the dreams (which I'm glad about though!) but I wonder if they just aren't working for me?!

I start the 1mg morning and night today, so I'm hoping something happens soon......
  • I don't know anything about champix iamashoppingadict but has it gone past the official quit day yet?

  • The official date is today and althought I know I need to excercise some will power, I was expecting the tablets to help with it because I have no will power on my own!! If I only have to fight a little then I would probably win, as it stands at the moment, no so much!!

I had such high expectations today and its all gone wrong!

    Just popping in to say:

6 Months free from the dreaded fags today :j:beer::j

    My Silk quit stats say:

Smober: 6 Months, 34mins & some seconds (:rotfl: the seconds are important too)
    amount saved £483.81
    cigs not smoked 2715 ()
life saved 1 week 2 days 10 hours 15 minutes

Big love to you all. BTW where is annablle? Are you ok? x

6 months, 1 day ;)and however many seconds is totally amazing, determined!!!!!!!!! :T:T:T:T:T:T
The furthest you've ever got too!!! I've been waiting to see this and now here you are ~ well yesterday ~ our lad's Birthday so I'm sure you'll forgive me.

I could never be more delighted for you, D, you know that.... :grinheart...and your smober stats are amazing!! Doesn't it really strike you when viewing it all like that. It wasn't that way when I quit, no silkquit meter then...well, actually no computer then, so I'd have had a job on!! :rotfl:

Talking of jobs (which I wasn't :undecided but I will) I really hope you can get sorted with one to replace the current one asap. Think of you with the renovations too. :D

I so look forward to September ;) but will say no more...til then.

I am so, so, so very proud of you and all you've accomplished! :kisses3:
    Hugs, Sue xx

Where is annablle indeed, determined?! I'm sure she's ok as I have ways to contact her, I probably will too, to give her a swift kick!

Hi IAASA, so sorry to hear the pills don't seem to be having too much of an affect at present; probably from the 1 mgs on you'll find a real difference. Champix have a great reputation so stick with them.

How about having a quiet word with your Pharmacist or better still your Cessation Nurse? If it puts your mind at rest then it's worth it.

As with NRTs though it's more than likely that it takes some folk a little longer than others for it to really take effect. See how the 1 mgs go and decide from there. Stay as patient and relaxed as possible so your system and mind aren't blocking things. Being ever alert for the slightest change won't help things ~ try some deep breaths and get yourself some exercise, or more than you were doing before.

Have you tried cutting the fags down at all? Even if it's only by a few a day, if not give that a try too.

    Hugs, Sue xx

  • Thanks Sue. I've got an appointment with the Nurse next Monday and its really difficult to get hold of them otherwise!

I've got about 10 smokes left and I've told myself I won't be buying any more when these have gone because I need to stop because I can't afford to smoke anymore! Thats the whole bleeding point!! lol

So I may have to force myself into it come tomorrow. :-(

Please IAASA, try not to fret about it all too much. Look forward to seeing your CN next Monday, no doubt she will have tips to help, but the Champix may well have kicked into gear by then anyway.

I may be wrong, but I'm wondering if you're so concerned about it all that you're blocking the pills from hitting in properly.

Do things you really, really enjoy, and can focus on, as often as possible and do please get yourself some fresh air and brisk walking/jogging; that way you will get endorphins released into your brain which will help so much, honestly!

If you do stop before the pills appear (to you) to have kicked in - you may well find that THEN is the time they'll do their thing and leave you to relax. :)

Have imaginery fags - go to the door and go through all the motions of having one. Hold your fingers as you always have done and then focus on the inhaling and exhaling just as if you had a real one, gradually feel yourself relaxing into it......but doing yourself no harm and without costing anything!!

One of quitters called dundeedoll reckoned that really worked wonders for her and she's been quit for 3 years!! :grinheart

If you need the cash then use the Silk Quit meter to keep check on your savings, amount not smoked and life saved etc http://www.silkquit.org/sqmmiv/meter.aspx It helps keep you motivated.

Stopping smoking isn't half as bad as we all believed it would be, it's the fear beforehand that's by far the worse!

You can do it and it will be a whole lot easier that you'd thought, you just need to take the plunge. So remember, no worrying and fresh air and exercise ~ and water and fruit!!

Well. I had a smoke last night after work at about 5.10pm and I haven't had one since. Not that I didn't want one mind you. That horrible feeling in my stomach just doesn't want to seem to go away and its getting on my nerves!

I don't want to do something else like chew gum or something because its just subsituting the smoke for something else. I want to get over this, I don't want to spend the rest of my life wanting a ciggy! Today is my first full day in the office not smoking. I haven't brought any with me. I walked straight past them this morning when I left the house and I feel like I've achieved something.

Just cannot get rid of that rumbling in my belly which is telling me I want one and its really frustrating because thats ALL I think about!!

I thought these pills would help me with that, apparantly not!

    Help?!!
  • iamashoppingaddict - that concentration on not smoking just goes with time sadly for the first few days it will be a battle of wills. At 6 months its really rare it plays on my mind, but it does sometimes although only for a brief moment. You're doing well just taking the leap and not smoking. Stay strong. Sorry have to go now but will be thinking of you x
