Ok Mira, a fresh day, better chance that today will be a good one for you, but just remember who's in control here and don't let Nic think he is, because that's no longer the case!

Physically knock him away from you and 'watch' as he falls to the floor..then stamp on the evil blighter, he's doing his utmost to rob you of your good health but you're NOT going to let him!

Keep busy! Most of us start frantically cleaning to keep ourselves occupied and free from thinking.

Read the thread for inspiration and ideas of how to cope and, if possible, save all the cash that you'd normally spend on cigs, it's a real eye-opener and great incentive. ;)

    All the best, Mira!

    Sue xx
But i love smoking so much!

Hi Chris and a very warm welcome to the thread - and what we hope is the start of a much healthier life!

I wouldn't mind a £1 for every time people have written your quoted remark above! I wonder if you'll still feel that way once you've been free for a while, I'm sincerely hoping you'll have a complete change of mind.

Please think about the friction it's causing at home, your Wife could well be constantly concerned about your health or maybe money is tight, either way, if she can see you helping yourself and each other it'll make far a far better home life.

Try to look ahead to what you could do with the cash saved and perhaps aim for a holiday for you both to look ahead to, it's amazing how things like that can help.

I've sent you a PM, please read it through and see what help you can get from it.

Start each day with the Quitters Pledge
"Today I promise not to smoke any cigarettes, tomorrow - if I wish - I may do."
Renew the pledge every morning on waking and on any other time of day. This helps in not making quitting feel as though you're planning something lifelong, it helps trick the mind in taking it all one day at a time. The lifelong part you determine for yourself when you're ready!

Best wishes, Chris, and please remember that you guys so often sail through stopping as you don't have the hormone problems we girls have!

That's terrific news, Mira!!! :T Be really happy at your achievement, because a day without a ciggie is marvellous as I think you realise all too well. Most of all, be so proud of yourself!! :D

In time you'll be able to gradually wean yourself off of the inhalator so, please, don't get worrying about that now.

    Wonderful work!

    Hugs, Sue xx

  • Everyone is different mira so try not to fret over using the inhalator. Not smoking that first day is such a tremendous feat, I am over the moon for you. Just not smoking for that first morning, hour, day is such a big thing. Really the first few days are such a jolt to the system (for me at least each and every time I have quit), my mind is still clinging to all the fabrications I tell myself and it feels like a huge uphill battle. But suddenly you get on a roll, pride in yourself kicks in and you think "oh actualy I CAN do this!"

You're doing so well keep at it and it will feel better you can be guaranteed x

That's exactly what it is, Mira, don't worry about the capsules though as inhalators are only for short-term use.

If cost is an issue than now and again do as DD (dundeedoll) used to do...and have an imaginary fag, seriously! She used to go through all the 2 fingers going to the mouth actions, just as though going to inhale, then relax while she did so, then slowly let it go and so on. She found it helped her enormously AND she was using nothing else and is one of our long-term success stories!! :D

The mind is a very powerful tool in stopping smoking, wherever possible use it to the full extent.
