Hi everyone  I have been reading and wanted to give some encouragement to Part Mouse. I too suffer from depression and can feel very negative at times. When I slip into this frame of mind it can spark a vicious cycle. I am trying to learn to re-think the way I think. I used to think that if the situations in my life were easier I wouldn't be so negative. But recently I have really tried to turn it around and now realise, if I didn't look at things so negatively things wouldn't be so bad.

Anyway. I started off looking at mindfulness and thought this might be useful to you PM

I'm just learning but am finding the less fault I find in people, situations and myself the happier I have become. The happier I have become the easier life is for me, and none of the actual real stuff has changed. I hope this helps x

Am joining in with this, I have wanted to give up for a long time, but in the past month or so my life has taken quite a few detours so am going for it.

I downloaded the Paul Mckenna Hypnotherapy tracks, only thing I am finding is that after listening to it, I want a cigarette even more

am not sure thats supposed to happen.

Hello Mira and a very warm welcome to the thread, and to the start of a new life!

I must admit that I know nothing about the Paul Mckenna hypnotherapy app, but if it leaves you wanting a ciggie straight away I think I'd be wary.

I'm sure that on the first post of the thread I put the name of another app, if so try downloading that one. I can remember someone swore by one she had, but not sure I can recall that name.

I'm trying to send you a PM that I send everyone, but I'm having problems as it says there are too many characters...when there are not!!! However, I'll get there, believe me! There are many tips in there which I'm sure you'll find so beneficial.

The main things you need are determination and willpower along with venting on this thread! ;) If you find it helps to alter your life around for a short while, then so much the better, it's so worth doing. ie. cutting out coffee, changing your routine in the mornings, going on out for a walk at times when you have problems.

Excercise as much as you can as it'll release endorphins into your brain making it all so much easier. Also, get a hobby or take up one that you used to enjoy - anything to keep occupied and keep the brain and mind active.

All best wishes and take a day at a time. Please see the Quitters Pledge above.

    Sue xx

Many thanks, warez and determined, your words were perfect for Part Mouse, I truly hope you take note, PM and realise it isn't just you who suffers in life, or who has concentration problems - I've had those all my life!

Keep going and stay strong and positive!

    Sue xx

It does indeed, Mira, hang onto the latter of the 2, your sensible way of thinking. Still trying to get the PM through.

They are absolutely right, Mira, please stay occupied, focused and in control. Nic has controlled you for far too long - now the boot is on the other foot and it's YOU who will get you through this!

It's the challenge you'll most thrilled about when you've got there, though anablle, truly it's just amazing!! :D Look ahead to tomorrow, I always found that a good day always followed a bad.

You are doing fantastically, keep looking at that goal.
