  • Dear diary, remind never to do something for the children again! Took then to the country park yesterday and all was good. Came home sat down at the computer, when I tried to stand up an hour later my back was in agony. Can only assume it was all the pushing and pulling and twisting and carrying of children who are bigger than I realised and I've pulled or bruised something!

Now waiting on a GP phone appt to see if they can prescribe something strong that will knock me out:rotfl:.

What a carp holiday this has been between the double dental abscess and now this:mad:.

Think NY resolution is really to get fit fit fit:T.

Thank God Santa decided we should get an iPad, or I wouldn't have any distraction at all!!

  • So 2014 is here and we have 119 days until we are free of the BR:j

Then I can wave goodbye to this countdown diary and start the debt busting one:j

Given I have 119 days to plan what we do next I'm hoping for an all singing all dancing s/sheet.
Plan A is to have a good chunky emergency fund, it won't be the full 6 mths salary but I'd like to have about £5k tucked away. In fact let's go and check the isa allowance...

  • £5,940 is the cash isa max for 2014/15

So that would be ideal for that first emergency fund.
I need to have that sort of chunk as both our cars are ageing rapidly but we'll keep them going for as long as we can.

If I do the budget starting off with saving first and save a tenth of that isa amount from jun 2014 then that would be achieved by the end of the financial year.

The next goal is it get rid of the secured loan, currently at £14,659.83 but will be 5 months less by the end of the br.
Off to find out what that would make it...

  • Well have paid our professional subs for the year, flipping £500 between us:mad:

Also received my experian credit report, all looks in order, depressing reading really, especially how much we've paid back with naff all to show for all those debts. Ho hum, with a lot of luck we will never need to borrow again.

Back still bad, a lot better than it was but still not driving even and haven't tackled any ironing:eek:

  • Just spent an hour de-nitting the children:eek:.
Noticed DD scratching this morning and asked if her head felt itchy, oh no came the reply.
On a quick inspection i could see loads of tiny white specks, oh yes, eggs:mad:.

So now all attacked with tea tree conditioner and the nitty gritty comb.

Will have to fess up to their schools this week:o.

Listed six things on ebay last night and sewed name tapes onto some of dds new clothes:A.

Now need some tea and some diaries!

  • Just phoned the secured loan co for the latest balance, an amazing £356.16 less than last month, which means only £60.25 is interest. Now compared to the £289.73 that is on the first statement for interest in a month that's pretty amazing.
It can tick away until the IPAs are finished and then we'll see what we can do.
Think the cars are going to be the first priority though, mine is getting very old and DHs is not far behind.

Typically i've seen our forever home for sale but we're not in a position to do anything. I'll just have to pray it doesn't sell and waits for us!
It probably will as it's a wreck with a chicken farm right beside it, and it's listed, so the builders / developers wouldn't touch it - what's the saying about being careful what you wish for!!

  • Oh well dream house has gone 'under offer', so someone else has seen it's beauty / potential. I'll be stalking them now!! Only to report any deviance from the listed building regs:A.

When i say 'oh well' i really mean 'blastards, i hate them'.

  • I think there's only 73 days left until the IPAs end:D.
Car needs work and the quote is just under £700, but i think i need to get it done rather than buy a newer one and then have to go through the palava for asking permission from the trustee.

Been thinking that once the IPAs have finished then we'll split the money three ways, a third to the mortgage, a third to the secured loan and a third to car savings. Once the secured loan is finished then we'll snowball that to the IPA saving and split it equally between the mortgage and the cars fund.
That should mean we'd be saving £4.5k per year for cars and i think we could get decent second hand cars for about £10k and as we'd be keeping them as long as possible that should give us funds for servicing / mots etc as well as replacement. Does that sound sensible?

  • Umm where does the time go?
As usual counting the days and we're below 50 now:j
Dream house came back on the market and we viewed and spoke to the mortgage company, all very interesting, as br wouldn't necessarily black list us but it would need to go before their senior underwriter.
However whilst we've been dithering it's gone under offer again...
Right off to catch up with everyone's diaries.

  • 34 days to go, so this diary's days are truly numbered:T
Then I suppose we have to wait until we are officially signed off and then the plans can begin:D
We still have the secured loan, the huge mortgage on a house that isn't the forever home. Both cars are getting pretty long in the tooth with massive mileages, children who are growing in every way etc etc. So I suppose we are still facing the same things that got us into this mess in the first place but this time we will do them with cash.:A
Having a debate with myself about so many things just now but I can spell them all out when this chapter ends...
