Yes i would like to second the thanks for the info:T

Have just sold an item on playtrade. On amazon you can contact the buyer and always like to send an email when someone has brought one of my items saying the item will be dispatched tomrrow and if there are any problems contact me as im sure many of you do aswell. On Playtrade do you have to directly contact the buyer via your email address or is there a contact buyer button like on amazon?

    Thanks

    Right,

I have just done a little analysis of Priority Books, this is useful for me too actually:

    I purchased 25 boxes at £125 on 3rd April.
That works out to £5 per box (£4 a box if you collect).
Average of 30 books per box, which makes them 16p per book.
I have listed 20 boxes so far so that is a potential of 600 books.
However, out of the 600 potential books, the number that were listable were 280. That is almost 50% that were listable on amazon and/or play.
Out of the 280 listed I have sold (to date) 47 on amazon and 10 on play. The prices ranged from 1p to £20.
The books that are listed range from 1p to £89 (keeping my fingers crossed for that one to sell).

So there you have it, hope that helps.

hi Kat, interesting to hear about your experience with Priority. I'm thinking of getting a pallet but need to save up a bit more first. I'm too far away to collect them and anyway don't have a car... The charity shops where I live are very expensive as is public transport round here so I thought it would be a way of getting stock and going for it as at the moment I only have about 170 listed.

Of the books its not possible to list on Amazon would they be ok for somewhere like Greenmet or are they only ok for charity shop or car booting or not even that?

Thanks to all for sharing their experiences of bulk buying.
    Good luck sellling them

I just wanted to say thank you too for the info re wholesale bulk buying. I had a look at priority books website but I live too far to collect too. If I wanted them delivered I would have to order 50 pallets!! A bit unsure if I want to order so many! Anyone know if there is a similar company in the North ?
  • Thanks from me too, Kat. A really helpful analysis.:T

Were there a lot of ex-library books among the boxes? I was once given a couple of boxes of books that the original buyer had decided weren't saleable except on carboot sales which he'd given up doing! He'd bought a pallet from somewhere but I don't think it was Priority.

It wasn't the fact that they were ex-library that bothered me but they were so tatty and marked that I didn't bother trying to sell them apart from at a couple of carboots where I had no interest whatsoever even at 5 or 10p each:eek:

Does anyone find ex-library books reasonably profitable to sell on Amazon? My local library is always selling stuff off but I never bother going to check what they've got:o
  • Hi there,
Just wanted to add my thanks to the list, I'm going to order a pallet as soon as we move as I'll have more storage space, also going to do the whole tax thing as soon as I start buying specifically to sell.

It's surprising how satisfying this whole selling is. I'm a reformed shopaholic and I'm finding that I get the same feel good factor but much more long lived with selling.Another reason I've got so much stuff.

Thanks again to everyone on here.

If I could be bothered to list them on greenM I would say about 40% of the amazon unsaleables are greenmet-able!
The rest probably good for bootsales but I will get back to you on that one, I am doing a bootsale in a couple of weeks with the priority left overs, I will let you know if they sell or not.

I only remember about 3 ex-library books from the whole lot and although there are some tatty books overall I am more than happy with the lot.

I have sold a few ex-library books with success, best to just look inside and and out and see how you go. If you have internet on your phone check the isbn on amazon whilst you are there, then you won't buy any duds, that's what I have been doing and mentioned a while back.
